A young cat found at a work site has undergone a dramatic transformation after just a few weeks in the home.

Over a month ago, I found a shaggy, unkempt kitten under a tire at work. He was emaciated, infested with fleas and had lost a lot of hair.
The finder immediately sought help from Deej, co-founder of the kitten rescue organisation Inked Kittens Club. “When she came to see me that afternoon, it was clear she was very unwell,” Deej told Love Meow.
The kitten, named Furby, put all his strength and will into eating and fighting to survive.

Though Furby had already used up several of her nine lives, she remained indomitable. She kept purring, “kept baking her little bread,” and seemed relieved to finally land in safety and receive attention from a doting human.
About seven weeks old, she had many health problems, including the dreaded panleukopenia, and at that age, she had about a 10% chance of survival.

Ferby was determined to overcome the odds and, with intensive daily supportive care, began to recover.
After a week of IV fluids, syringe feedings and medication, Ferby regained her appetite and will to live. “When she began to eat happily and on her own, we knew she was in the final stages of recovery.”

For a while, Furby just stuck to her bed and wouldn’t move except to go to the bathroom. Then one day, she decided to come out of her shell and trust. “From the moment she decided we were friends, we were inseparable.”
Furby was severely malnourished and had lost a lot of hair from his chest, legs and tail.

As she continued to put on weight, her fur slowly grew back and her adorable, mischievous side was revealed. “She seems to have two faces – a sulky one with lowered brows and a tongue-clicking one. The more you stare at her, the cuter and funnier she gets.”
With renewed energy, Furby began to play and seek more attention.

“She’s decided that petting is more important than food, and if I don’t give her enough petting she’ll stick out her tongue and reach out her little paws to grab my hand. She really packs a punch – one kitty with a big personality.”
Once Furby recovered and was ready to socialize, he was thrilled to have a constant playmate after so long in isolation.

She quickly bonded with her feline friends, teaching them how to run around the room and play with their toys, and through her interactions with other cats she learned to play appropriately and respect boundaries.
“Her favorite game is still chasing me around the house. She loves stuffed animals and every night she shows her stuffed snake who’s boss.”

Furby is about 3 months old now, and his ear tufts are getting longer with age.
“As she’s gotten older, she’s developed a beautiful little bald patch. She still loves to chase your feet around the house, but she’s become a lot more social.”

It’s hard to believe that just a few weeks ago, Furby was a shaggy little gremlin. Today, he’s grown into a beautiful young cat with enough energy to power a village.

“She still has that big goofy head and the weirdest fur I’ve seen recently, but I couldn’t be more obsessed with her.”
