A tabby kitten named Kickers arrived at Chatons Orpheus in Montreal with his five siblings, four of whom were born with varying degrees of leg deformity.
Eager for the chance to walk and run on all fours, they embarked on their new journey with the help of volunteers. They arrived at their foster home at about seven weeks old and immediately crawled up to their caregivers for affection.
Despite their lame legs, Kickers and his siblings wanted to move around the room and play like the other cats.

Kickers, who has one bent leg, would always hobble over to his owner when he entered a room. “Unlike his siblings who have both deformed legs, Kickers’ leg was bent inwards and he was immediately splinted upon arrival,” the rescue group said.
After wearing the splint for a day, Kickers got used to it and started running around like nothing had happened.

Her siblings also underwent treatment to correct and orient their feet. “We took advantage of their growth spurt to correct the position of their feet and improve their quality of life.”
With their arms and elbows protected by bandages, Kickers and his siblings were able to move around without pain or discomfort.

As Kickers’ range of motion improves, she becomes more curious about her surroundings and her personality begins to shine through. “She has really big hind legs (with extra toes) which makes her even more adorable when she walks.”
She has different colored beans on her hind legs, which she loves to flaunt whenever she seeks her owner’s attention.

As Kickers got more steady on his feet, she encouraged his siblings to play, move around and exercise their arms.
Bottine, a kitten with twisted paws and white feet, is as active as his siblings and spends most of his time lounging on the couch. Kickers nudged him to play, showing him that even in bandages he can still explore, get naughty and climb piles of pillows.

The Kickers are also joined by their two brothers, Pax and Maxue, to ensure no one feels left out.
“After 10 days, Kicker’s legs were almost completely straight! She was finally able to land on her paws and started running around right away. She was so excited to be able to play like a normal kitten.”

“Now his legs are working, he runs around on all fours and has fun wherever he goes. His right front leg is stronger and about 80 percent straighter.”
Kickers has grown into a fearless young cat who is quick to pick up on new things and share them with the other cats. “She’s very energetic and gets along well with her siblings. If they want to take a nap, she’ll come right over to us for a cuddle and a purr.”
