This week I ended up visiting a children’s hospital and started working before a human could even sign in. A mother came to the front desk with a little girl with a cast on her arm, and I was right there to examine her. Pet!
I could see many patients and their families in the lobby. Some of them didn’t speak English, but of course it didn’t matter because kittens can speak any language. A human brought me my bell so I could ring it for some of the kids and give high fives.
I saw a variety of children in the examination room. One disabled boy had his whole family with him. I spent time with them all and my human made sure to take a photo for my family sitting next to the boy’s wheelchair. Then there was a boy whose arm was being put in a cast. I managed to catch a few pets with his other arm. I also saw a little girl who fell off the monkey bars and broke her arm. She was really happy to meet me.
I have to say I have mixed feelings about Instagram photos taken by humans. After all, you’ve seen my outtakes at regular photo shoots, right? Well, on this visit I saw a teenage girl who wanted to take a picture with me. And my human took a picture of it. She looked nice but I had my eyes closed and my tongue sticking out. We both thought this was the funniest thing ever.
I still had some time, so I went to the rehab facility and visited some of the waiting rooms. One mother had a baby who wasn’t very responsive to me. But she held his hand and rubbed it along my fur so he could feel the texture. Another child I visited there was a very adorable girl in a wheelchair. So my human made me perform some tricks and I touched her hand with my foot. It was a good way to end my visit.
