They rescued a cat, but little did they know that they would also save four kittens who would later grow up to be the cutest little shadows.

Earlier this year, a cat was found abandoned outside with an injured leg. A kind woman took her home and assessed her injuries, finding that she needed emergency treatment.
She contacted the local rescue organization Chatons Overeignes Montreal and asked if they had room to take in a cat in need. Volunteers banded together to save her, even though they were already at capacity.
They took the cat in for treatment and a volunteer offered to foster her. But a visit to the vet revealed she wasn’t the only one in need of help.

She was amazingly calm and let the veterinary team clean and treat her paw, as if she knew they were helping her. When they examined her stomach, they discovered that she was pregnant.
Exhausted and hungry from the ordeal, she spent the next few days enjoying hearty meals and plenty of rest. She quickly recovered and her body was quickly filled.

Her foot healed without the need for surgery. Once she was able to move freely, she began to explore her surroundings, greeting everyone with head bumps and purrs everywhere she went.
“She spent most of her time sleeping while waiting for the baby to be born,” rescue worker Celine Krom said.

One morning, she surprised her foster parents with four kittens, mini versions of herself.
Three of the kittens had good appetites, but one needed a little help from its foster parents. During the first 48 hours, the mother cat could not produce enough milk for the hungry kittens, so the foster mother replaced her with milk.

After two days, her material instincts took over. She took on all the duties of a mother, feeding her young children and cleaning around the clock.
“Their foster parents weighed the kittens daily to make sure they were gaining weight. There are two girls and two boys, all of whom look like their mothers. She has a good appetite and quickly developed a nice round belly.

Over the next few weeks, the kittens grew by leaps and bounds and reached new milestones. They played together, chatted and took naps. When the nest got too big, it turned into a lively little shadow, blossoming, and running around the room as if it were its own.
“Their mother takes good care of them and purrs a lot. She was really lucky to be rescued from the streets when she was injured and pregnant.”

From the moment the kittens were born, their mother was always by her side, watching over them as they grew.
Now that the little shadows are weaned and beginning to show their individual personalities, their mother is nearby, watching over the playful chaos in the room. But as soon as someone comes in, she cuddles very gently and greets them with a purr.

“The four cubs are like clones and look very similar, so we wear collars so we can tell them apart. They are very curious and love to play, but we… I cherish the time we spend quietly together.”

The quadruplets don’t seem to mind the veterinary visit, allowing staff to cuddle them like the cuddliest bouquet of kittens.
Their mother, Charala, will never have to raise a child again and is ready to be loved and pampered in their forever home. With a heart of gold, she always seeks love and adores every person and animal she meets.

The kittens enjoy constant lap time with their foster parents, and the sound of their purrs echoes through the house.
