They discovered how incredibly unusual this tortie kitten is after saving a little one with another cat.

Volunteers from Best Friends Cats did not hesitate when asked to help orphaned kittens with the garbage.
Desperate attention was needed, so they were taken to a local veterinary clinic where dedicated staff worked tirelessly to help them. “One of the nurses provided important initial care and ensured they were kept feeding, toileting and warm,” Best Friends Cat shared.
Tortie and black and white kittens, the only survivor of their garbage, overcome all challenges and began to thrive.

After they were stable, the Best Friends cat foster parents welcomed them to look after.
“They often feed, exercise their vocal cords on an empty stomach, and spend the rest of their time sleeping soundly.

They thought the new kitten was a girl, as about 99.9% of cats in tortie (tote shell) are women. “She” arrived with a determined spirit and a lot of torture. “Our naughty tortie is now mint, and our sloppy but fluffy black and white girl is Moo.”
In just a week they had gained more than half their weight and had burst into energy. “Their appetites are great, and they thrive on bottle feeds.”

They reached milestones one after another, and their charm really came to life, but they still didn’t realize how special the tortie was.
“Minty has always been an instigator, and Mu rolls his back and looks like a cool, attractive Minty. His ears are completely open so they recognize the caregiver’s voice and get energized as soon as they hear it.”

“Their little feet still wobble a little when they try to get up or move around, but they quickly roam with confidence.”
And they did. Once they were big enough to zip around the house and shrink every surface in front of them, their character was shining. Minty enjoyed being the center of attention, but Mu captivated everyone with her laid back, cute nature.

When the kitten was ready for a veterinarian visit and old enough to fix it, the team of Best Friends cats had made an incredible twist. “For the first time in our 10 years as Best Friends Cat, we were shocked, but we had news from one of our vets.”
“There are rare male torties among kittens. Male tortevilles are very rare.”
Minty is actually a male tortieBest Friends Cats
Approximately one in 3,000 tote shell cats is male, and these men are almost always barren. When they heard the vet call the tortie on the phone, they pause for a moment and say, “What are you talking about now?”
“It tells us to always check.

Minty is as happy, playful and loving as usual. He brings a soothing and comfortable presence to every room he enters.
Whether he is at work, reading, watching TV or not, he is nearby, often curled up in a blanket or snuggling into his lap.
