These two kittens, who once hid outside, now sneak inside every lap and are especially curious when they notice other cats.

Last month, a Good Samaritan found two kittens huddled in the bushes near the Homeward Bound Cat Rescue Center.
“We don’t know what happened or why it happened, but someone found them and took them inside. It’s unlikely they got there on their own,” Homeward said. Bound Cat said.
Despite the ordeal, the kittens quickly turned into purring machines. “They were both quite thin and small, but they were very kind and tried to live full lives.”

Toffee Twix, a gray kitten, had kitten colds and eye infections, but her calico sister, Caramel Swirl, never left her side. At about 6-7 weeks old, they were extremely underweight, but thanks to good food and warm beds, they were finally able to fill up and sleep soundly.
After a few days in her foster home, Toffee’s eyes cleared and she began exploring her new holes and climbing on top of her foster mom, Ellen Richter, for attention.

Caramel, the larger of the two, felt right at home. She loved being with her sister, but as soon as Eren entered the room, she ran as fast as she could for affection. “All they want is to cuddle and cuddle. They’re very sweet and loving,” Ellen said.
Toffees remained small for the first week, gaining only 1 to 2 ounces as they nibbled on the bait.

To increase their appetite, Ellen offered them a variety of foods with different textures and flavors until they found their favorite. “It was hard to find the right food. (After weeks of searching) we finally found the food they liked.”
Caramel encouraged Toffee to play and snuggled up to her as if Toffee needed extra patience.

Ellen introduced them to a variety of new toys, but the one that really fascinated Caramel was the feather wand. She pounced on it, took it in her mouth, and let out a low, playful growl as Eren pulled the other side.
At 8 weeks old, they moved into a foster room with plenty of room to zoom in, scaleable cat furniture, and a tunnel perfect for dashing in and out.

Caramel was overjoyed with her newfound freedom and tore the place apart like a small tornado.
The kittens’ commotion soon caught the attention of Matisse, a friendly and cheerful cat. He wandered in and quickly warmed up to the little newcomers.

Although he towers over them, he’s still a kitten at heart, running through tunnels and coaxing them to play.
He is a gentle giant who lets the kittens grab his tail and attack him from behind. Caramel is particularly attracted to Matisse and follows him like a shadow. She is excited to have a big friend to show her the ropes and is charmed by his playfulness.

Toffee likes to sit on her adoptive mother’s lap and quietly watch them chase each other. Matisse sometimes pauses in the middle of the play to gently kiss Toffee on the nose.
When Caramel reached the 2 pound milestone, Toffee was still playing catch up. Thanks to proper diet, she eventually grew steadily and grew stronger with each passing day.

Last week, Ellen celebrated Toffee finally tipping the scales at 2 pounds and gearing up for the next exciting chapter.
“These kittens are very quiet and gentle. They are active but have a gentle demeanor. Most of the time they want to be on my lap, to be cuddled or to climb on my shoulder. Caramel is Toffee It has more energy.”

After a rough start, the kittens are growing up as a bonded pair. All they wanted was a warm lap to curl up in and a home filled with endless hugs and love.
