Five kittens were brought to the shelter. At the foster home, their worries quickly disappeared, especially when two domestic cats showed up.

Last month, five kittens arrived at the Hamilton County Humane Society looking for a chance at a better life. Scared and unsure, they huddled together for comfort.
Foster volunteer Jennifer opened her home to the kittens, giving them a new start in a welcoming environment. “When they arrived, they were poorly socialized and very noisy,” Jennifer told Love Meow.
The first night, the kittens snuggled up in their little beds. They were hesitant but seemed interested in the caretaker who always came with food.

Slowly but surely, the kittens began their adventure. Sassafras, a fluffy calico cat, was the first to bravely explore outside the coop. She was the least picky and exuded confidence from the beginning.
“The (orange) boys (Hickory and Rowan) came right back. Linden (Tobey) and Willow (Tobey) took a little longer to warm up.”

With the brave ones leading the way, the shy kittens mustered up the courage to come out of their hiding place and explore their new location.
They were excited to eat all day long. Some of them, especially Sassafras, instinctively growled while eating and declared the food to be theirs.

Soon they realized they no longer had to fight for food. When Jennifer entered her room for her second breakfast, the kittens began an adorable chorus and continued to meow until food was served.
“They found their voice and now they’re using it to yell at me for going to work ‘starving’ all day long.”

Mr. Sassafras climbed onto the highest perch he could find, a toy tower on the railroad tracks, and roared at the top of his lungs. After filling her belly, she dozed off sitting up while her siblings lay down and dozed off.
Meanwhile, Jennifer’s native cats, Bodhi and Bear, hear a commotion coming from the foster room and can’t wait to meet the newcomers.

Hickory became the most affectionate of the herd, greeting Jennifer every time she entered the room. He nuzzled her until the caress began, then dissolved into a puddle of purrs.
When the kittens were healthy enough to meet the native cats, Hickory was the first to approach Bodie and stroke her fluffy fur.

Mr. Sassafras and Mr. Linden also kept cats at home and followed them around, curious about their presence. “I can’t believe how brave Linden has become. Rowan and Willow are still lost, but I’m sure they’ll fall in love with them soon.”
“Kittens love to run, climb, chase and play with toys.”
The bear came to play with the kittensjennifer
Every time Bear and Bodhi appear, the kittens follow them, fascinated by their every move. They have started playing with the cats, even playfully stroking their tails.
Hickory is constantly trying to get the cats’ attention in anticipation of their grooming sessions. His siblings eagerly observe and imitate everything the feline residents do.
Sassafras and Bodhi, two lovely womenjennifer
Five of us love an indoor life with good food, cozy beds, and plenty of toys.
Sassafras continues to be the mastermind, always causing a stir in the room. The once shy kittens have turned into loving lovebugs with playful energy.

With Bodhi and Bear’s help, the kittens have grown up to be very confident. They live each day to the fullest, excited about the adventures that lie ahead.
