The cat focused on caring for five kittens at the shelter. Everything changed for the better when kind people took them in.

Earlier this month, Tubby’s cat, Kelsey, found herself in an animal shelter with her newborn kitten.
Despite the overwhelming shelter environment, Kelsey remained immobilized in caring for the kitten. Her scuffy body took the sacrifice of constantly feeding five hungry mouths, trying to nourish them.
When Foster Kitten Mama founder Heidi Schumaker heard about the family of six, she quickly provided them with a safe shelter.

With the help of several volunteers, Kelsey and her weekly kitten arrived safely in foster care. All five kittens are plump and healthy, and are a testament to the dedication and unconditional love of their mothers.
She wrapped her baby in her fur and continued to warmly protect them while they were being nursed.

A quick check from Kelsey revealed how thin she was under her fluffy coat. The mother quickly jumps into a bowl of food, as she continues to raise her baby. She never stopped caring for them for a moment.
“I’m so happy to have endless food without worrying about her,” Heidi shared.

The kittens quickly showed their talented side and took the best place during nursing.
Whenever Kelsey took a little time to eat or use the trash can, the kitten cried out, demanding attention until he rushed back. As Heidi comes for daily measurements, the small bundle stares at her at once, vigilant and curious.

“Kelsey has been caring for the baby. She just stays in the nest and rests while feeding them.”
In just a few days, the five kittens have grown in size and strength. They explored the nest and stood on their toes to peak at the edge. They still didn’t fully understand how to jump, but they even tried to climb.

They were early bluemers, reaching every milestone earlier than planned, prompting foster parents to move into a more spacious playpen.
London and Berlin are both tuxedos and look almost the same except for the white chin patch (London). Petite tabs, Sydney and Paris are never embarrassed to express their views. A sophisticated house panther, Rome is the only boy, with four sisters to compete with. “He’s the biggest and the longest fur.”

As the kittens tried to venture beyond the nest, Heidi introduced them to their new space. They let go of their hands one by one, examining every corner while Kelsey had his careful eyes and kept them from bumping too far.
London quickly discovered water and food, strangely sipping from a large bowl and eating mom’s food.

Kittens continue to grow and learn every day, and Kelsey gently guides every new experience. Her little minie Sidney and Paris continue on the stairs on her feet to hone their cat skills.
With new energy, kittens now wrestling with each other, climbing cat posts, and entering all sorts of mischief.

Kelsey is grateful to have a safe and comfortable place to get away from the rough shelters, free from the fear of hunger and raise young people.
While raising the kittens, she fills the room with soothing trash, knowing they are in great hands.
