Texas family’s lost cat found 2,000 miles from home
Monday, September 2nd, Dakin Animal Protection Society Updated followers Facebook About the cat’s journey: Over two years ago, Carla and her family from Texas lost their beloved pet, Shoto, who ran away from home and “went missing during a particularly cold snap in January.” According to the shelter, Shoto was the family’s first ever cat. Despite their best efforts, the family was unable to recapture him.
The shelter recalled a time when they had to save a cat: “Staff at Dakin were in disbelief when a good Samaritan brought in a skinny stray cat in need of help. When the microchip scanner hovered over Shoto’s microchip, a clicking sound was heard,” they said.
The Dakin Humane Society recalled how Carla answered the phone. At first, the family thought it was a telemarketer or spam call and tried to avoid it. Eventually, the couple was able to get in touch. The shelter added, “Without hesitation, Carla made plans to drive from Texas to Dakin, a 26-hour drive one way, to pick up Shoto.”
In the post, the society also raised questions about what Shoto experienced on his 2,000-mile journey: “No one but Shoto will ever know how he got to Massachusetts, what he experienced, or who he met along the way. His adventure will forever remain his secret,” the society said.
The shelter said the microchip helped Shoto be reunited with his family in Texas.
