Rescuing a kitten with one eye finds a loved one along with two cat lovers

Benny has one eye and a cleft, four times smaller than the trash can

The little rescue kitten and his brother landed on the feet of the new home, with the “happiest family,” which includes a cohort of two cat lovers and a rescue moggy.

Last September, RSPCA Bedfordshire South Branch After Mom, Dad and two brothers and cats were handed over to the local council, they were contacted by a dog guard in Slough who needed emergency space for a small kitten with only one eye and cleft lips. Veterinary checks revealed that the inger kitten (reportedly 12 weeks old) was healthy, but he was very young. Vets believe Benny was born with one eye, but there are no other issues except for being very small!

The branch’s foster parents took him along with his siblings. The kitten was named Benny and Teddy and has not been ranked ever since. They were reinsured by Samdai and Hannah Grimwood in November.

A couple who live in Berry St. Edmunds in Suffolk have a poor cat zoo, so Benny and Teddy fit quickly.

Sam said: “They are great cats and are truly spectacular. We definitely made the right choice and they settled very well.”

Along with Benny and Teddy, Sam and Hanna also have seven-year-old female cats, Charlie, who were completely blind and rescued from Dubai, and Merlin, who was adopted from cat rescue.

Sam explained how he cared for the five cats, adding: “The cat and Charlie were Hannah’s cats, but when everything changed, we found a friend for him, and we got a Merlin.

“We were sitting on the couch and Hanna saw Facebook posts about them. We knew we needed to have them! They go well with our other cats and it looks good to have Tony lay another partially sighted cat.

“We live on a farm so we have plenty of space. If we have more, we don’t have enough space in the bed! They’re sleeping in bed with us.

Sam explained that Benny and Teddy rarely separate, play together, sleep together, clean each other. Teddy, Tony and Merlin are all in care for Benny.

Sam added: “It doesn’t seem to affect Benny much, but he’s a very big sleeper, so he’s a very big sleeper. When we’re at home, when we’re at home, we wipe it for about 30 minutes, he’s going to clean it, or someone else clean it for him. He’s jumping on something ok now, but it takes him a while for him to be able to jump on the bed and he’s having a hard time jumping on the kitchen counter.

“He’s grown his luggage, but he still looks like a young kitten. He looks like the age he should have seen when we first adopted him. His brother Teddy has become four times easier than his size.

“They are all friends, it’s the happiest family. I was asked nothing else!”
