Rescue dog has facial tumor removed, finds forever home

The animal shelter said the five-year-old dog came to the shelter after escaping a life of neglect.

“When he came to HSP he had a large ulcer on his face, weighing a whopping seven pounds, or 10 percent of his body weight. We didn’t know how long it had been left untreated.” HSP reveals.

HSP said King’s mind was “not broken” despite the situation he was in. They said that even though the dog was in pain, “He had an inspiring, upbeat attitude and just wanted to be loved.”

The animal shelter said the dog underwent a difficult but successful surgery to remove a tumor from his face, which thankfully turned out to be benign.

Over the next few weeks, King continued to make an amazing recovery, even while receiving treatment for heartworm disease.

The animal shelter was doing its best to prepare King for his forever home.

“King has been through a lot in his life and is still learning how to live as a dog outside of the world he used to live in.” HSPs are Updated July 26. “Our staff is working tirelessly to give him love and care and prepare him for life in his forever home.”

And although it took a while, this adorable dog has finally found a loving, forever home.

HSP explained that King could only be walked on a leash while undergoing heartworm treatment, and HSP staff always took him on long, entertaining walks.

HSP reveals, “During one long walk, King was introduced to a construction worker who worked at our new Showerman Adoption Center, where this nice gentleman slowly fell in love with King.”

HSP said the man offered to foster King during the tropical storm. “She fell in love with him, fate intervened, and King was adopted by this incredible man.” HSP wrote:

While King has had a happy life, there are many pets like him at the Pinellas Humane Society who are still waiting for proper care.
