A Delta Airlines passenger is “outraged” after the airline allegedly forced him to give up his first class seat to his dog on a plane.
Passengers expressed their concerns on Reddit. r/delta subredditSaturday, Dec. 21, with the post title “Just Downgraded for a Dog.”
“This morning I was upgraded to First, but just 15 minutes later I was downgraded (to a worse seat than before). When I asked the person at the desk what was going on, she said, ‘Something has changed.’ That’s what I was told. ” The passenger reveals.
Passengers later explained that the decision was initially just infuriating. However, when I got on the plane, I saw a dog sitting in what was supposed to be a first class seat. “And now I’m furious.” said the passenger.
He also shared a photo of a dog sitting in his seat, revealing that it was a giant white dog that appeared to be the passenger’s service dog next to him.
The enraged passenger said he immediately contacted Delta support to inquire about the downgrade. “And they say, ‘We might relocate for a service animal,’ but there’s nothing they can do.”
He also called the airline’s decision “a complete joke” and said: “There’s no way that dog spent as much money on this airline as I did.”

Passengers then wonder why they have remained loyal to the company given this kind of treatment.
“I have remained silent when others have complained that this airline has been mistreating customers and reducing service levels lately, but I am also starting to question my own loyalty. .”
in a statement to people, Delta Airlines responded to passenger experiences: “Delta’s team is aware of your complaint and is investigating the details of what happened.”
The airline also said in a statement that it is encouraging customers to contact them directly.
Meanwhile, Reddit users are divided, with some supporting the passengers and others calling for it to stop.
“Legally, passengers and service animals with certain conditions have priority in bulkhead seats.” A Reddit user and what appears to be a Delta Air Lines employee left comments on the post.
“When I was making reservations, every time people asked for a blocked seat, I learned that Delta has a legal obligation to move seats if a disabled passenger needs to move seats. So on this CRJ, rows 1 and 5 are considered bulkheads.
Meanwhile, another Reddit user empathized with the passengers, saying: “I think they upgraded him and then demoted him to something even worse than the OG seat.”
“If he gets his OG seat back, the problem is solved. He paid to get his seat. In this case, he was excited for 10 minutes thinking he was upgraded, but then he realized that he was… I just found out I was downgraded twice.”
