One day, the cat realized that joy was waiting on the other side of the wall and decided to move in through the window.

A good Samaritan caring for local stray cats noticed a new kitten joining other kittens in the neighborhood in search of food.
Realizing he was friendly and had no place outside, she contacted a local rescue organization, Ridgewood Rescue (New York), and asked if they could help him. Without hesitation, they agreed and began the process of getting the cat, named Chris, to safety.
When Chris reappeared outside the discoverer’s house, she tried to calm him down by opening the window.

The cat was intrigued and peered into the apartment, rubbing its face against the window sill. He seemed hungry and desperate for a safe haven. Provided with food, treats, and lots of jaw pain, he ventured indoors.
After exploring the apartment, Chris lay contentedly feeling completely at home.

“When we came to pick him up, we found out he was a non-microchipped, neutered male and had obviously once had a home. He was very sweet and friendly. ” Heather Glassberg of Ridgewood Rescue told Love Meow.
“We made posters and asked the community, but no one came forward to adopt him. Sadly, it happens all too often. I decided to put him in foster care.”

Chris snuggled closer to his friends, as if trying to make up for lost time. He enjoyed constant attention and an endless supply of food. However, they soon noticed that he was struggling with the toilet.
They tried everything under the sun (different types of sand, sand attractants, extra boxes, calming pheromones, etc.) and nothing seemed to work. They took him to the vet and consulted a cat behaviorist to rule out physical problems and consider additional steps and tricks, but to no avail.

Despite setbacks and frequent accidents, they did not give up. One of the volunteers then suggested that Chris consider adopting a barn cat as a possibility.
“I thought maybe this cat had always been an outside cat, so he never got used to using the litter box. I didn’t have high expectations, but it was worth a try. I thought there was.”

Shortly afterward, a woman from Massachusetts stepped in to help. “Then a miracle happened.”
This rural woman was looking for the perfect cat to join her family. Her previous cat who died shared a doggy door to the backyard with the family dog.

“After speaking with her, we were confident that we had found the best option for Chris. We appreciated her honesty and dedication to making the situation as safe as possible. She was happy to accept that Chris could have a potty accident indoors.”
“She and her husband drove more than five hours and nearly four hours to meet in Connecticut for handover. There were tears on both sides as they said goodbye.”

Although they knew the family had great chemistry, they could not have predicted the changes he would undergo in their care. “Chris hasn’t had an accident in over two weeks and has been using the bathroom without any problems.”
He grew up as a spoiled house cat, but most of all, he formed an adorable bond with his adopter’s granddaughter.
Chris, now Felix, has found his forever homeridgewood rescue
“Last I heard, he wasn’t even out yet. They really love him. His name is Felix now.”
Perhaps Felix was waiting for the right family with a magical touch, and now he is truly where he belongs.
