My latest therapy cat visits with kids

On her latest Therapy Cat Visit in the Summer, a visit at the Children's Hospital, she does tricks and spends quality time with cat-loving children.

I was able to visit the Children’s Hospital this week! I’ve always enjoyed it. The moment we went to the lobby I was ready to go to work and jumped on one of the couches next to my mother and her teenage daughter. I quickly parted them and they pet me.

In one area there was a table surrounded by a sofa filled with patients and their families. So my man put me on the table with a bell, so I was able to do some tricks. A few little girls were really enjoying my tricks and wanted a high five from me. Lots of high fives! When they were called to the exam room, my man and I went too.

It was a busy day filled with patients in the room. The first thing I saw was a teenage boy with his mother and dad. His dad had a boy’s big plastic body brace. They were amazing. Another patient I saw was a little girl. The doctor came in last and told his mother he didn’t need to be in for two years! I don’t know what she was there for, but that had to be good news.

One of the things that really enjoy is when my person opens the test room door and the patient’s face lights up as soon as he sees me. Someone who is really excited to see a kitten having this glow. One of these was a little girl who really wanted a cat. Her mom explained that her dad said no and instead had a small dog. They love dogs, but she admits that it’s not the same as keeping a cat. So we spent a lot of time with the girls so she could do kitten fixes.

I finished my rehabilitation visit. Physiotherapists are always very busy with patients, so we keep out of the way and only spend a few minutes with people who want to see me. But I still had a bit of quality time with the three girls there.

It was a fun and truly satisfying day.
