A cat who had been missing for years has finally been reunited with its owner thanks to a microchip. The cat went missing from its owner’s farm about 11 years ago, but the kitten was recently turned in as a lost kitten. After a quick scan for the microchip, rescuers safely returned the cat to its home in Hollywood, South Carolina.
Sam the missing cat finally returns home after years
The story of Sam the missing cat is a touching one. The cat was missing for 11 years and it took more than 10 years for him to finally be rehomed. Sam was originally owned by Jennifer Ravenel, who found the tiny kitten near her pasture and rescued him. The cat quickly warmed to her, accepted her as a person, and followed her everywhere.
Ravenel said: W.C.B.D. Sam was her “lap cat.” Because they live on a farm, the cat spent most of his time in the barn. However, after a dog was brought to their small farm in Hollywood, South Carolina, the cat became scared and started spending more and more time in the barn. Unfortunately, one day, the dog stopped coming, and Ravenel was nowhere to find his beloved furry friend.
After more than a decade, the cat was reunited with his owner. Good people brought the lost cat Sam to the Charleston Animal Society. A microchip scan revealed that the cat belonged to someone. The shelter then contacted Ravenel to let her know that her fluffy companion had been found.
The Hollywood resident said she had lost all hope when she first got the call and thought it was a prank. The reunion was a tearful affair for everyone; a video of the reunion went viral online, garnering more than 2 million views on Instagram. Ravenel said Sam is back home, settled in and generally doing well.
