The post went viral on both platforms, garnering thousands of likes. “I went to a shelter to adopt a cat with the saddest eyes,” McCarthy told X earlier this month. The photographer explained that he had “felt a sense of emptiness” since losing his cat last year. She added: “If he likes Bailey and astronomy, I hope I can give him a happy eye.”
