I was so happy to visit my child’s hospital with a therapy cat because I couldn’t go last month. It’s an easy visit for me as everyone is so lovely.
The first thing I saw in the lobby was a pair of little blonde girls with mom. I quickly jumped on the couch for them and they were so happy to meet me. I also saw a cute teenager who laughed when she saw me. She and her mother were surprised to see the kitten in the lobby.
It was a lot of fun in the exam room. Even my man brought my bell, so I was able to ring it for the patient. The first thing I saw was an older girl who was so excited because I was there. “She saw you in the lobby and it was sad that she couldn’t visit before,” her mom told us. The next girl wore a head scarf and a bit of shyness around me. She reluctantly dabbled in and petted me, relaxing when she realized I was enjoying her company.
Many kids today deal with broken limbs and cast in and remove them. One of the girls I saw was sitting at the exam table with the remains of her cast when I showed up. “She always wanted a kitten,” her mom told us. However, she had never pet a cat before, so this was her first chance to visit with a kitten. She was a bit shy at first, but soon warmed me up. Her brother joined me as well.
There were several children in the surgery area on the second floor. The first girl I saw immediately sat down and held out a hand to hold me. Her parents said she was totally awful just a while ago, but we wouldn’t have known how she could hold me full. I also visited with the boy who brightened up when he saw me.
It ended in the rehabilitation reception area. Mom and dad showed up with the little girl and the girl petted me. My mom and her older teenage daughter appeared and my humans recognized them from previous rehabilitation visits. It was a girl who only had one leg. She had new legs, so perhaps she had learned how to work for it. We visited for a while before going downstairs and signing out.
On our way to the parking garage we shared an elevator with the blonde girl and the mom we first saw when we showed up. So, it was a great end to the visit.
