When they helped a blind kitten get back on her feet, they were amazed at what she was capable of.

Tortellini, also known as RiniThe Odd Cat Sanctuary

Tortellini (also known as Rini), a calico kitten, was part of her litter and had always been underdeveloped. After a kind woman takes her in, she notices that Rini is unsteady and has trouble growing up.

She took her calico cat to multiple veterinary hospitals, including the ER, for help, but soon realized that the level of care needed exceeded what she could provide. “She was told Rini was unable to grow and her lifespan was at the end,” Odd Cat Sanctuary told Love Meow.

Not giving up, the woman contacted Odd Cat Sanctuary and asked if they would give the kitten a chance.

“We found a foster home (caretaker) and agreed to take in this little female. We took her to the emergency veterinary hospital and did some tests. When we arrived, she was on balance. Although he was upset, he was calm and very kind.”

Rini, who was blind in both eyes, didn’t let anything get in her way.

At the clinic, the cute calico cat enjoyed every cuddle session with the staff and let the staff take care of her without complaining, keeping everything running smoothly. They discovered that her calcium levels were extremely low, causing seizures and light-headedness.

They immediately started her on proper medication and showered her with love and care.

Shortly after starting treatment, Rini bounced back with new energy and a healthy appetite. She explored every corner of the room with a springy gait, but most of all she loved human affection.

She insisted on hiding under her foster mother’s shirt to be more comfortable.

Rini is about 4 months old, about the size of a 6-week-old kitten, and weighs only 1.3 pounds. Although she’s less than half her original size, she more than makes up for it with her sass and love of cuddles.

“She is very sweet and loves to eat, purr, sleep in her foster mom’s shirts, and scream when she wants something.”

Thanks to those who never gave up, this beautiful, magical kitten is finally on the road to recovery. She may not have eyesight, but her newfound strength proves she can do anything just like any other kitten.

“She’s a fighter and has a very sassy personality. Now she’s growing up and her personality is coming out more and more each day.”

Rini has a knack for getting what she wants and won’t take no for an answer. She often stands in front of her humans, waiting to be picked up and placed in their arms. She also loves perching on their shoulders or chest for extra comfort.

The moment she noticed that her adoptive mother was wearing glasses, she made it her mission to wrestle them away.

Rini, once said to have “failed to thrive,” has made an incredible recovery and is thriving into the new year in a foster care facility. She has steadily gained weight, gotten stronger, and continues to amaze people with what she is capable of.

She loves playing with toys that make noise. Despite her small size, her “indomitable spirit” shines through.

With a second chance, Rini has taken her life back and is living each day to the fullest. She keeps up with the size of her stuffed unicorn and is honing her wrestling skills with it.

“She is an old soul who makes a lucky family incredibly happy.”
