Hello, I’m Dr. Maja! Read my introduction to me and my two cross-bred dogs, lava and spatula.

It’s a lot of fun to have three dogs with completely different personalities. It is interesting to observe each of the reactions to a general event, such as a visitor, or something more unusual and stressful, like a sudden thunderstorm. Also, since the three spend all their time together, it seems they don’t pick up each other’s confidence when dealing with certain phobias. You’d think you’d think one of them is being composed calmly, but it would reassure others, but I’ve never noticed this before. And of course, there is always one dog in every place.

fearless lava

Lava is my favorite, honestly. I’ve had her the longest and she’s such a character. Stubborn, independent, sweet, persuasive, but sometimes threatening. It’s impossible not to love her. And she is also one of the most fearless dogs I have ever had. There’s nothing gradual about her. She can sit outside in heavy rain with thunder and lightning, and doesn’t seem to mind at all. I’m the one who runs around her, wanting to keep her safe and dry. You’d say he’s fearless, but you can’t question whether it’s a pure lack of common sense with her.

But it makes her feel the content knowing she’s not scared and can withstand the worst thunderstorms while sleeping comfortably on the couch. But one thing she taught the other two dogs is that she hoped she wasn’t there and barking visitors. All our guests are special and deserving great welcome as we live in illicitly and rarely see cars approaching. And dogs do their best to express their hospitality in such an exciting time. Luckily, no neighbors complain about the noise.

Fear of spatula and thunderstorms

Hera is a completely different story. She has been with us for almost two years now, and initially she wasn’t too fuss about thunderstorms. She wasn’t as relaxed as lava, but she looked rather comfortable. This poor dog must have endured a considerable amount of unpleasant weather phenomenon while she lived in Greece and was tied to a tree. However, last year, when I lived with me, we spent the summer with quite a few nasty storms, which made her start to get very uneasy. I turn on the music and distract her and give her a smooth mat, a slow feeder, or a bite, but this is the only time I see her really scared. She eats the treat, but then retreats under the table or bed where she fits, and she is not so small. It’s sad to see her suffering so much. She doesn’t shake, but her expression clearly makes her scared. And unfortunately, she doesn’t feel at ease seeing how relaxed the lava is.

Little Radio has lived with me for two months and we have experienced mild thunderstorms, during which time she seemed rather calm. But in her eyes, it’s absolutely the worst to leave and stay with just the other two dogs. She can’t be trusted around cat food, so when I’m not there I’m kept in a wooden frame. Otherwise, she is sleeping in a wooden frame, so the only problem arises when I decide to leave, as this is where she is fed. Most of the time, I don’t even have the car parked right outside the house, so I can hear her barking. I have a pet camera and I can see that both the lava and spatula and even the cat are sleeping peacefully. She bares every time she leaves the house for the first few times and checks the camera. However, last week there was silence. I went to the store and went to see my family. There was no noise every time I turned on the camera. bliss. She is a very intelligent little dog and can also be very adapted to her new life arrangements.

Each one is unique

All the habits and phobia, or lack of them, make each dog a special character that complements the other dogs. Lava and Hela accept Lajka very quickly and smoothly, and they feel like they’re packed for years as Lajka has already found her place in bed. I hope their bond continues to grow and that they find comfort in one way or another, especially during stressful times, or when I’m not around. Otherwise, I’ll be there to reassure themselves.
