Heroic dog helps prevent house fire in Fairlington

A dog’s quick actions helped a dog’s owner stop a fire from spreading at a townhouse in Fairlington on Thursday, September 19th.

Archie, a 4-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, became his owner Shravani Bobde’s hero after he started constantly licking his arm in the early hours of the morning.

Thanks to Archie’s “signal”, Bobde wakes up. she says ARLnow Then, he started to smell smoke. So she got up and started searching the house for the source of the smell.

“I started investigating to find out where this smoke was coming from. I ended up finding it in the attic.” Bobde said.

Bobde turned off the breaker and opened the window to let the smoke out, so the smoke detector stopped going off.

ARLnow reports that an electrician later told Bobde that a slow-burning electrical fire had started inside Bobde’s HVAC unit late at night.

Thanks to Archie and Bobde’s quick actions, the fire was extinguished inside the HVAC unit, which Bobde revealed has now been replaced.

She credited Archie’s quick actions with preventing the fire from spreading to her home and adjacent townhouse.

she said, “I’m just reflecting on that. [Archie] If I hadn’t woken up and tripped the breaker, the fire would have spread even further. It probably spread slowly. ”

Additionally, Bobde said he is thankful for Archie. “Ferocious guard dog” A spirit that seems unusual for his breed. She also said she loved Archie. “He’s a unique creature.”.

She also revealed that after the incident, Bobde, Archie, and the other dogs all went back to bed and slept throughout the incident.

“I hope Archie can be recognized as a hero last night. [saving] Me, his brother, Percy, and the neighbors. ” Bobde said.
