Tributes have been paid to police dog Gizmo, who was based in Loch Ryan, Scotland, after he passed away on August 8th after a battle with illness.
Scottish Police Dumfries & Galloway announced The police dog passed away on Tuesday, September 24th.
The 11-year-old Spucker Spaniel had a 10-year career as a police dog, according to the police department.
And while Gizmo worked as a police dog, he was able to sniff out $12 million worth of drugs in the area and across the country.
In addition to sniffing out drugs, Gizmo also worked at major events such as state visits, music events, and sporting events.
Gizmo was the first introduced At Christmas 2014, Police Scotland had just joined the Border Policing team at Lough Ryan Port.
In 2015, Gizmo succeeded another great police dog, Buster. Mr. Buster retired after a successful career that lasted seven years. When Buster worked as a police dog, he was able to uncover over $7 million worth of drugs in Scotland.
In a June 2015 article facebook postPolice Scotland wrote: “One-year-old Gizmo takes over Buster’s search duties, looking for weapons, drugs, cash, stolen goods, and explosives. He learns a lot from Buster in their day together.”
And after learning from the best, Gizmo has become one of Scotland’s most talented police dogs.
in 2022 Working with Border Police, Gizmo alone was able to uncover cannabis with an estimated street value of $1.5 million at the port of the Scottish village of Cairnryan.
