A dog left for dead in the trunk of a car last year was reunited with its foster parents on Wednesday, November 20th.
Shared by the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region Heartwarming story and reunion Thursday, November 21st.
“Last year, Animal Law Enforcement (ALE) officers received a report of an unknown number of dogs left in the trunk of a vehicle.” explained the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
“When they arrived on the scene, desperate cries for help rang out from the trunk. Nothing could have prepared them for what they saw that day.”
The animal shelter painted a picture of what ALE staff found in the trunk, explaining:There were ten severely neglected puppies in the trunk of the car, and only three were still alive. All animals were extremely underweight, with no muscle or fat, and bones showing through the skin. The surviving puppies were dehydrated, hypothermic, and covered in urine and feces. ”
The animal shelter revealed that only one of the three puppies they rescued survived, and they named it Griselda.
“With around-the-clock care and unyielding hope, Griselda began to show signs of recovery.” This was announced by the animal shelter.
“She was placed in the care of Alison, one of our staff members, who became her foster parent and cared for her with patience and dedication.”
The animal shelter revealed a few months later that Griselda had changed her name to Bitz and found her forever family.
“The joy of seeing her healthy and growing was immeasurable and we celebrated the triumph of this beautiful life over tragedy.”
A year later, staff at the animal shelter and Bits’ former foster parent Alison were reunited with the dog.
“She came to our wellness center for her vaccines and check-up. We watched in awe as she entered the room, eager to be reunited with her adoptive mother, Alison. Ta.” This was announced by the animal shelter.
“The two shared a tender moment and their bond was stronger than ever.”
The post about reuniting Bitts with her foster family and Pikes Peak Region Humane Society staff included a photo of Bitts as a baby and another photo of Alison cradling her big, beautiful baby girl.
“We thank the ALE staff who rescued her, the veterinary team who healed her, the foster family who provided her with a home, and the foster family who adopted her and gave her a wonderful life. I am grateful to my family.” The animal shelter wrote:
Additionally, Bitts’ new mother Katie Barlow also left a comment on the post, sharing her life with Bitts today.
she wrote, “She is now thriving in the mountains with her three rescued dog siblings and is living the wonderful life she deserves. We hope she finds her forever home with us. I am very grateful for that.”
