I have known for a long time that probiotics can help maintain my dachshund gut health. They support the functioning of the immune system, promote digestion and nutrient absorption, and help maintain overall health.
Probiotics are supplements that I don’t think are optional. But I don’t have any favorites.
With many supplements, I have a go-to brand, but like probiotics, I want to switch between them. My dachshund will get different strains of probiotics, prebiotics and other gut support ingredients.
The new one we’ve tried recently is Petlab Co. Probiotic Chews for Dogs.

About Petlab Co.’s Probiotic Chew
Petlab Co.’s cutting-edge probiotic formula includes a unique blend of three powerful probiotic strains that support healthy digestive and immune function, as well as seasonal and environmental allergies.
Additionally, these unique formulas include advanceBiotics and postBiological ingredients such as full crigosaccharide (FOS), galaturigosaccharide (GOS), and synergistic yeast blends.
Together, these components help promote beneficial bacteria and microbiota that help maintain a balanced microbiota and normal digestive function.
According to Petlab Co., the benefits of probiotic chews include:
- Target intermittent itching
- Optimizes skin and coat comfort
- Supports seasonal allergies
- Supports immune system functions
Their US-made soft bites are made from the highest quality domestic and globally sourced ingredients.
What I thought about Petlab Co.’s probiotic chewing
I’m satisfied with the ingredients in Petlab Co. Probiotic Chews. They meet my minimum standards for probiotic supplements and also contain unique ingredients including full crigosaccharide (FOS), galactrigosaccharide (GOS), and synergistic postbiotic yeast blends.
Tastes like my dachshund – otter, summit, gretel -. Not only do I chew them when I put them in breakfast or dinner, but if I forget them at mealtime, they will be happy to eat them as standalone snacks.

Some probiotics are too strong and offer a loose stool for the Summit, even if you only have a small portion of the recommended ingredients in place. That wasn’t the case with Petlab Probiotics.
None of my dachshunds have allergies or skin problems, so I can’t particularly talk about whether to reduce itching, foot licking or other issues related to seasonal allergies.
However, I looked into reviews before trying the product and saw some dog owners reporting that they had stopped shaking their heads after starting these probiotic soft chews, licking and chewing their skin and legs, licking and shaking their heads, stinking ears and shaking their heads.
I think it depends on the dog and the severity of the problem, but there is a possibility.
Note: Before introducing new supplements into your dog’s diet, it is recommended to consult with your veterinarian to make sure it meets your dog’s specific needs.
Final Thoughts on PetLab Probiotics
Petlab Co. is definitely a brand that adds to your regular supplement rotation.
Prices are a bit steep, especially if you have multiple dogs, especially if you’re over £25. The recommended dose for dogs under 25 pounds is one soft chew per day. There are 30 bites per container.
This means that 30 containers given to my three dachshunds at the normal dose would only last 10 days. However, the 25 pound dog dose is one bite, and the mine is about half its weight (11-15 pounds) so give it half a day to last longer.
Yes, probiotic supplements are important, but I don’t think you need a full dose of Petlab Co. products. Because you get additional probiotics to what you use to fantasize your diet, such as fermented beet pulp or raw goat milk.
These dog food toppers lack fruct trigosaccharides (FOS) and do not have enough probiotics.
