When asked to care for sick dogs and assist terminally ill patients, our team of dedicated animal rescuers responded immediately, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to animal welfare. However, when they arrived at the scene, they encountered unexpected resistance. They found the dog Lazarus locked in a shed in a barn, a situation that lasted for six years.
Rescue workers faced significant difficulties in accessing the stall, primarily due to the accumulation of large amounts of dirt and debris that effectively sealed the entrance.
When they arrived at the stable, the two women were horrified to see how bad the dog’s condition had become. Lazarus’s coat was so dirty that it was difficult for him to move. Lazarus was immediately taken to the groomer for a bath and haircut. At first, the dog refused to let his handler cut his hair. He quickly realized how good that would feel.
Lazarus had about 33 pounds of fur removed and looked like a brand new pet. Unfortunately, the dog was having a hard time retaining the fact that he had been released. Jessica Kincheloe, the groomer who rescued Lazaro, said Lazaro was very suspicious of everyone.
After a while, the man was approached by another dog. He was given sweets and quickly warmed up to everyone. It was obvious that he was not used to human contact. Perhaps it had been years since he had felt a gentle, caring touch.
Lazaro had been with Big Fluffy Dog Rescue for several weeks before being adopted. He was unable to walk at first, but with proper treatment and training, he was able to take his first steps. It didn’t take long for this puppy to find a good home. His new family celebrated his 8th birthday by showering him with all the love he deserved. You can’t imagine that he weighed 35 pounds. She now has a nice coat and a great family to take care of her.
