A man has been arrested after a dog was burned in a house fire in Riverside, Brooklyn on Sunday, November 17th.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) said when they responded to the scene around 3 a.m., no one was living in the home and no one was hospitalized as a result of the fire.
The cause of the house fire is still under investigation, but a JFRD spokesperson said it is being investigated as an arson incident and the suspect is in custody.
Maris Johnson, who lives in an apartment across the street from the house, told First Coast News: “When you passed here this morning, all you could see was smoke all around.”
She also said she was relieved that the fire did not appear to affect neighboring units.

The man said the owner of the home had not lived there in several years.
