On Wednesday, September 25, a dog led law enforcement officers into a wooded area in Stevens County, Washington, asking for help to rescue its injured 84-year-old owner.
“Deputy Wright was patrolling a wooded area in rural Stevens County when he came across a dog sitting in the roadway.” of Stevens County Sheriff’s Office I shared it on my Facebook page on Tuesday, October 1st.
“There were no residences nearby. Mr. Wright attempted to put the dog in the car to look for the owner, but the dog would not get into the car.” the sheriff’s office added.
They also shared that the deputy began searching surrounding residences in the area within a mile in an attempt to locate the dog’s owner, to no avail.
The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office said the dog was lying on the center line when Deputy Wright returned to its location.
The deputy tried to get the dog out of the roadway, but it ended up in the roadway instead. “An unmarked road that we drove a short distance.”
Sub-Inspector Wright followed the dog and took it to a small summer cabin. They then started checking their surroundings and found an elderly man lying on the ground a short distance from the hut, pleading for help.
This was announced by the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office. “The 84-year-old man, who also had other medical conditions that required regular medication, fell and injured his leg.”
“He lay there for hours and could have had serious consequences had he not been found.” they added.
The sheriff’s office later determined that the dog that led deputies to the scene was Geeta, a 13-year-old rescue dog owned by an 84-year-old man.
Our furry friends remind us time and time again that they will go to great lengths to show us their unconditional love and loyalty.
And the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office witnessed the day Geeta saved her owner. they wrote, “We believe Geeta saved our lives that day. The loyalty and bravery of our furry friends continues to amaze us.”
The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office also added: “Thank you for going the extra mile, Deputy Light, and thank you for being such a good girl and a true hero, Gita!”
Online users have praised Mr Gita and Deputy Commissioner Wright for a job well done.
A user associated with the rescued man thanked Deputy Chief Wright, writing: “The man you helped was my mother’s cousin who is 91 years old. I am so grateful that you followed your instincts, your experience, and your Gita.”
“Hats off to Puppy for a great job and to the deputy for trusting his instincts. It could have turned out very differently.” another user wrote.
