Disney Vacation Club Plans First Pet-Friendly Resort

New documents reveal exciting news for Disney-loving pet owners. Disney Vacation Club is Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground In Orlando, Florida!

In documents filed by Disney Vacation Club with the Orange County Auditor in Florida during the holidays, Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & CampgroundWhat caught our attention is that this project is pet-friendly and will be the first Disney Vacation Club destination to welcome pets.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground Cabin Pet Policy

Scheduled to open in mid-2024 cabin Fort Wilderness allows a maximum of two dogs per cabin. There is no weight limit. Puppies planning to stay at the resort must adhere to the following rules:

  • Dogs “must be fully trained and are not permitted on any furniture on resort grounds.”
  • Dogs must be accompanied and in a carrier or on a leash at all times when outside the cabin.
  • Dogs are not permitted in dining areas, lounges, pools or other recreational areas.
  • Owners may not leave their pets unattended for more than seven hours.
  • Guests bringing dogs must contact housekeeping to schedule room cleaning during pet-free hours.
  • Owners must use door hangers in cabins where dogs are present.

Additionally, Disney reserves the right to remove a dog if it is causing a nuisance to other guests.

“Dogs must not interfere with the quiet enjoyment of other guests. If Management determines in its sole discretion that the dog’s behavior is annoying or causing a nuisance to other guests, the responsible owner, renter, guest, invitee, licensee or exchanger must immediately remove the dog from the resort premises and make arrangements for the dog to be kept off the resort premises at the sole expense of such user.”

Pet surcharge

Pet fees for pets allowed Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground The rates are $30 per night for owners and $50 per night for “tenants, guests, invitees, licensees and exchangers.” Of course, these rates are subject to change in the future.

Pet friendly policy not guaranteed

Disney Vacation Club also states that their pet-friendly policy is subject to change, and they conclude that “you should not purchase a vacation ownership interest with the assumption that you will be able to bring your dog onto the resort property.”

Other Pet-Friendly Accommodations at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World has three dog-friendly resorts available to guests who aren’t part of the Disney Vacation Club: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

Currently, dogs are the only pets allowed at Disney resorts, however Walt Disney World offers pet boarding and daycare facilities at Best Friends Pet Hotel.
