Welcome! My name is Jessica and I have been caring for dachshunds and small dogs in my home for over 10 years.
We would love to be your puppy’s second home!
Read on to find out what makes me different from other dogs and what it’s like for your dog to spend time with me.
“Jessica was great! She takes the time to ask lots of questions and tries to understand your dog and its needs and behaviors. She is wonderful because she owns Dachshunds and really understands the breed and is patient with their doggy behavior. She is communicative and caring, and sent us pictures and videos so we didn’t feel too lonely. She also gave us kind and helpful downloads when we picked them up which were helpful for the duration of their stay. Our dogs had so much fun playing and hiking on their own little getaway! The only complaint is that our dog is now depressed and would rather be at Jessica’s playing with her dogs than be at home with my boring parents. :)” – Heather G. (Read more testimonials…)

What your dog’s stay is like
When my Dachshund is in my home, he is treated as a member of my family.
I will be caring for your dog along with my three dachshunds, Gretel, Summit and Otter, and will endeavour to maintain as much of your dog’s normal routine as possible.
- I’ll let your puppy sleep in my bed If he is used to sleeping with you.
- I work from home This way, your Dachshund will not be left unattended for long periods of time and you can look after him as needed.
- There is a well-fenced garden Your dog can run around and play (under supervision).
- Frequent toilet breaks are provided Just what you need when you’re at home.
- Embracing each other at night When I’m not out adventuring I like to relax on the couch.
- I am patient and work with each dog according to their personality. This is to ensure that their time here, and their interactions with the other dogs in the home, is as enjoyable as possible.
- Daily enrichment provided In the form of games, walks, short adventures around the house, etc.
Our daily schedule at home looks something like this:
“My dog had the best time with Jessica and her dogs, we will definitely take him again! Words can’t express how much Jessica goes out of her way to make sure the dogs are happy, having fun and comfortable!“
Included adventures
When your dog stays with us they become part of our family and enjoy the same lifestyle as my dogs.
For example, I run a large Dachshund club in Seattle called the Adventure Weiner Club and your dog might be able to come to events with us.
I also try to walk my dog at least 4 days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. Your puppy will walk with us, but I may also walk him separately if necessary.
I always check beforehand to make sure I have your permission for these “daily life” adventures and will reschedule if your dog doesn’t like riding in the car, meeting other people/dogs, etc.
Additional options for dogs
In addition to your dog’s stay at my house, you can also add on services for an additional fee.
These include:
- Transportation service (please book with Rover during your stay)
- Basic obedience training or behavior reinforcement
- Half-day or full-day hikes
- Camping trip
- Semi-professional photography
If you’re interested in adding hiking or camping to your dog’s stay, please email me at Jessica(at)pettalkmedia(dot)com before or after booking with Rover.
about me
I started my own business in 2012 in order to spend more time with my Dachshunds.
Since then, I have spent hundreds of hours researching the Dachshund breed, grown this blog into one of the best and most trusted resources about Dachshunds on the Internet, and founded the largest Dachshund Social Meetup Club in Washington State.
I chose to specialize in Dachshunds for the following reasons:
- I love that breed of dog. I don’t think there’s any time in my life where I wouldn’t have this cute and funny little dog.
- Dachshund owners just get along with other Dachshund owners. Dachshund owners treat their pets like family and feel anxious when they’re away. I understand that and I think that’s okay. I’ll send you as many photos and updates as you want while you’re away.
- Understand the personality of the Dachshund. Dachshunds have very unique habits and characteristics that many Seattle dog caregivers don’t understand.
- I have experience with IVDDback injuries, and any other medical needs your Dachshund may have. We can provide your Dachshund with the exact same specialized care you would receive at home.
I live in the Central Cascade Mountains outside Seattle with my husband and our three miniature dachshunds (Gretel, Summit, and Otter).
When she’s not kissing dogs or working, she enjoys traveling, hiking and camping with her Dachshunds.
