The cat went from lying in the bushes to having the best time of his life, doing all the things he never could do before.

AP Miller was walking home on a rare Saturday off work when he spotted a crying cat in the bushes. “Usually if I make eye contact with a cat outside, they run away, but this cat kept crying,” the Associated Press told Love Meow.
When AP slowly approached the cat, the cat made strange movements. “I knew something was wrong. I called a friend and she told me to call animal control, but I knew this cat needed help.”
She gently scooped up the cat and placed it in a box she had bought from a nearby store.

She then took the cat to an emergency vet, where she discovered the cat was not microchipped and needed more intensive care than she expected.
Between the ages of 3 and 5 years old, the calico cat became emaciated, weighed only 4 pounds, and was unable to walk. “This turned out to be due to fractures on both sides of her pelvis. She had a cut on her nose that had dirt stuck in it.”

“I was at the emergency vet all night waiting to see if she had a chance.”
At first, they were worried whether the cat would be saved, but it showed a strong will to live. With plenty of rest and good food, she made great progress and was soon walking on her feet. “There’s clearly something special about this sweet girl.”

“She was determined to live from the moment she met me. She had the courage to ask any passerby for help. She was really ‘in a pickle’ when I found her. So I named her Pickle.
Pickle needed more care than AP could provide, so a neighbor connected her to Tails High, a volunteer-based cat rescue organization. They believed Pickle deserved the best chance and immediately offered their help.

“She fought hard to recover and fought well against the crate rest that healed her.”
Within a few months, Pickle went from stumbling with every step to running with renewed strength. Her playful personality began to shine through and she grew into an affectionate cuddle bug.

“She quickly became super cute and as mischievous as she could be, knocking over plants and digging in the dirt. She loves jumping on counters, doing zoomies and doing wild things. So we joke that she’s a chaos gremlin. She literally climbs walls.”
After playing pranks, Pickle snuggled up to AP and enjoyed melting into her arms.

Pickles can be a little shy around new people, but they love the company of their feline and canine friends. “She quickly became friends with Croissant (the cat), who was my former native dog and adopted.”
Pickle feels like herself again and loves rolling around, showing off her plump belly, munching on her favorite treats, and chasing toys.

The moment Pickle was able to use the toilet on his own, AP cheered. That’s when she realized she couldn’t part with Pickle. “I wanted to be by her side every step of the way.”
Along the way, Pickle and Croissant became close friends, bringing constant laughter and happiness to the family.

This once skinny cat now proudly shows off her round belly, which perfectly matches her big personality.
AP gave Calico a chance when it needed it most. And now Pickle is thriving in her forever home with good health, boundless energy, and lots of love to give.
