After the cat turned on his “daddy” mode and moved indoors, he began caring for a troublesome kitten.

Dakota, an orange tabby named after the street he was discovered, was rescued after surviving himself for quite some time.
Jillian, Fosterbabycats founder, gave him a spare room after he was fixed and treated for the wound. It is unclear whether he will adapt to living indoors, but she wanted him to experience the comfort and warmth of the house.
Eventually, he turned on the charm and proved that he was for indoor living.

Estimated to be two years old, Dakota endured the harsh reality of street life. When he was served a plate of freshly boiled chicken, he devoured it and was delighted to have a full belly.
He was calm and easygoing with the female cat in the house, and was happy to have them call for a shot.

Two days later, Dakota jumped onto the sofa next to Jillian. With the gentle nudge on his head he was in her lap, ready for some embrace. “The first time he started biscuits and comfortable nursing with a soft blanket, I knew he wasn’t planning on going back outside.”
He took her to the bathroom everywhere, as if he were her little guardian, while she was in the shower.

“He is very loyal to the person he asserts as his human being.”
When he joined Gillian in the Foster Room, he realized that she had a tendency to two small rescue kittens. At first, he wasn’t sure about them, but he kept checking in with his foster parents. After a few visits, he decided to lend his foot.

“The first time I saw the softness from him was when I was helping Bunny (Toty) turn to the toilet, he grabbed her by the neck and comforted her.”
One day he settled next to the incubator and approached by inviting a bug (a grey and white kitten). After a few smells, he gently washed his face and groomed his fur. “Now he’s coming to run to help when he finds out it’s time for their bottles.”

“I don’t really understand whether Dakota likes the idea of kittens or because he thinks he’s my baby, he just cares or if he’s trying to support me. Both options are so sweet and I appreciate him regardless of my motivation.”
Every night he starts to help his kitten get ready for bed. “I’m sure Bunny thinks she’s exactly the same size as the Dakota.”

The kitten leans against him every time he quilts them, dipping them all in love.
“It must be very kind to experience being groomed by another cat for the first time. He did an epic job of keeping them clean and allowing them to experience the love of “mama’s cats.”

Whether Jillian is relaxing on the couch or cooking dinner, Dakota wants to be part of the action. “He thinks he’s an integral part. Are you in the shower? He’ll keep an eye on it.”
“He only knows me for a few months and he is fiercely loyal. I hope he can find his eternal home with someone who has more time for him. He deserves all love and attention.”

Dakota learns to enjoy life and rediscovers his inner kitten. He is currently playing with new furniture with toys and kittens, making sure everything is well tested when the bunny and bugs are big.
But more than anything, he worships his people and chases them like their most loyal companions.

“The Dakota is very protective and possessive. He needs a very special home that worships it about him.”
He loves a new life as an indoor cat, showing humans how grateful he is for his biscuits (kneaded), his head bulges and pullers every day.
