Christopher Salas and David Barcenas rescued a cat named Millie near FGCU in Fort Martin. Myers later dropped her off at a pet hospital in the pouring rain. They believe she “may have run away from home” during the storm. Bárcenas then wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Millie would have a home in Washington, D.C., if no one picked her up or adopted her after the storm.

Christopher Salas’ cat rescue video quickly went viral on X as it showed two men rescuing her from Hurricane Milton in Florida. The short but heartwarming clip shows Salas and David Bárcenas offering their cat, Milly, a safe haven after removing her from under their car. The video shows two co-workers taking the cat into their car to save it from the heavy rain.

“We are now a crew of three,” Salas captioned the video, explaining that he rescued the cat after someone called and “heard it.” The Good Samaritan then shared another photo of Millie, saying she was “understandably cranky” as she rested “under the car seat”.

David Barcenas then shared the following: update More information about the rescue cat and her. Bárcenas posted a selfie of herself, Milly, and a colleague on X with a caption that provided important information about the cat. He wrote, “Millie is an adult female cat that we found near FGCU near Fort Myers, Florida.” He claimed he “sent her to Blue Pearl Pet Hospital where it was confirmed that she did not have a microchip.”

The two men also said the rescue cat “doesn’t look like it’s wild” and called her “well-behaved.” Additionally, they observed that “she may have snuck out of the house.” The caption continued that Millie would be transferred from the pet hospital to Lee County once the devastating storm “subsides.” Mr. Bárcenas had already concluded that he missed Millie and even offered to take her to Washington, D.C., if the adoption process began and no one took her.
