Nine months in space, astronaut Suni Williams finally returned home. And her dog was ready and waiting for the moment when they could jump into her arms.
Williams posted a heartwarming video of the reunion at his home in Houston, Texas. In the clip, she steps into the garden and greets two overjoyed dogs with a smile. They wore their tails roughly, bouncing around her, and even grabbing the stick excitedly to offer them as a gift.
Do you recognize me? Do you know who I am? She says, laughing as the puppy suffocates her with affection.
The mission she was originally supposed to last only last for eight days. Instead, Williams and fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore spent nine months at the International Space Station due to issues with the spacecraft they had in orbit.
They were the first astronauts to ride Boeing’s new Starliner capsule in June 2024. However, shortly after arriving in space, Starliner experienced helium leaks and malfunctions in the thruster. NASA has decided it is safer to wait until reliable return options are available.

On March 18, 2025, they finally returned to Earth.
Despite the delay, Williams and Wilmore remained bright. In an interview with Fox News, they said they would never be abandoned or left behind, and would be happy to return to space if asked.
But for Williams, there is no moment in comparison. She returns to solid ground and reunited with the pet she had been waiting for almost a year to see her again.

The best homecoming ever, she captioned the video. And based on those tails and loving eyes, her dog definitely agreed.
