The family of the late French actor Alain Delon has rejected his request to have his beloved dog euthanized and buried with him.
Delon’s family has refused to euthanize his healthy 10-year-old Belgian Malinois dog, Louvo, following strong protests from animal rights activists. Daily Mail UK I will report.
Guardian Delon told Paris Match magazine in 2018 that Louvo was his “Terminal Dog”.
He went on to express his love for the Belgian Malinois: “I’ve had 50 dogs in my life, but this one has a special relationship with me. He misses me when I’m not around.”
In the same interview, Delon told the magazine: “If I die before him, I will ask the vet to take him with me and have him sleep in my arms. I would rather have that than watch him die in agony on my grave.”
The interview and Delon’s legacy have been thrust into the spotlight by his recent death, once again drawing criticism from animal rights groups.
French animal rights group La SPA condemned his decision. sis saying, “Before he died, he requested that his dog, Luobo, be euthanized. However, an animal’s life should not depend on a human’s.”
La Spa also took in the dog and volunteered to find it a lifelong family. However, after receiving a flood of criticism, the French animal rights organization, the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, reveal On Instagram, “Of course Lubo won’t be euthanized!”
They write: “He has his own home and family,” a relative of the actor who looks after him confirmed to us.
The actor passed away on Sunday, August 18, at the age of 88. Reports said Delon was buried “in strict privacy” at his home in Douchy, with no further details released by his family.
