Earlier this week, Jamie, a foster volunteer at Baby Kitten Rescue, was informed about two kittens rescued from an uncertain fate.

When Claudia, a local animal rights activist, stumbled upon them and offered to help, they were “surrendered” along with their siblings. When she rescued them, she noticed that one of them tilted its head and the other walked with its hind legs spread out to the side.

She wanted the couple with special needs to go to someone with more experience. “So she contacted me and I couldn’t say no,” Jamie said.

The kittens quickly got used to the new space and tried to explore it despite the abnormalities. Cocoa, a tabby dog, wouldn’t stop even when she tilted her head, and her younger brother Butternut ran around inspecting every nook and cranny.

At 5 weeks old, both puppies were underweight, but after just one day of eating, resting, and resting, they were already starting to gain weight.

“Butternut and Cocoa both have special needs, but they do everything a normal kitten would do.”

They quickly mastered using the litter box and happily jumped into the food dish. With new strength and spring in their step, they set out on further adventures, undeterred by anything.

To improve Butternut’s mobility, he is undergoing physical therapy and taping. This puts the hind legs back in the correct position so that they are below the hips when sitting, walking, or climbing.

He’s active, unfazed, and up for everything, whether he’s wearing tape or not.

Within 24 hours of being placed in foster care, Cocoa surprised everyone by losing her tilted head. As she found her balance, curiosity sparkled in her eyes and her mischievous side came to life.

She used her tiny claws to climb up Jamie’s legs and tried to crawl into his lap. “Cocoa is full of energy while awake.”

After a visit to the vet, they believed her head tilt had somehow subsided on its own.

Every time Jamie walks into the room, Cocoa and her brother rush to get attention. As soon as she sits down, they turn into little monkeys and climb on top of her until they take a nap on her lap.

In just a few days, Butternut has made great progress. He is learning to walk and play with his feet under his hips and to jump by kicking himself up with his hind legs.

“We want him to build strength in his back legs while being in the right position. He is getting better and better at walking and climbing. He is very It does a cute little trill.”

While Butternut runs around and improves her skills, Cocoa watches from Jamie’s lap. She is fearless and thinks she is twice her size.

The moment her brother climbed up to join her, she struggled with him with all her might, then reached for his tail, determined to catch him.

“They are officially in the ascending stage of development.”

With a loving home, good food, and good care, our feline siblings grow up to be boisterous cats. They fill their days with a whirlwind of activity and eventually fall asleep next to their adoptive mother.

Just a few days ago, their future was uncertain. They now have a caring foster home to meet their needs and a support team to ensure a bright future.
