Nikki, an animal rescuer and foster parent, came across a small kitten in need at a city shelter and stepped in to help. “It wasn’t until I came forward that the shelter told me there was something wrong with his paws,” Nikki told Love Meow.
At 3 weeks old, our kitten, Davey, had a big appetite and liked to nap a lot. Nikki took him into her home and began feeding and caring for him around the clock.
Davey quickly settled into a cozy bassinet with warm blankets and his constant companion, a stuffed Fake Mama.

Despite having a crooked leg, Davey was comfortable, full of energy, and moved around with great determination. He cried when he saw his adoptive mother at mealtimes and demanded cuddles when he was full.
“He’s such a sweet boy that I can’t help but hug him and kiss him.”

Davy was born with a congenital defect in his front legs. “His right arm is bent like a chicken wing, but he still has limited mobility.”
“At first, I had an X-ray done at the vet and then sent to an orthopedic veterinarian. However, as time went on, it seemed like my left leg had gotten stronger and I was starting to put pressure on my front leg instead of walking on my left leg. Now I can do it” elbow. “

As Davey grew, he adapted amazingly and was soon running, jumping, and climbing everything in sight. He quickly mastered using the toilet, thoroughly enjoyed playing with his adoptive mother, and chased after his wand toy with unbridled energy.
“In the last few weeks he has grown, gotten stronger and more mobile.”

Thanks to daily exercise, good food, and good nutrition, Davey can now support himself with his left front leg while hitting the toy with his right leg. He always impresses with his ability to use his front legs in different ways.
“There’s nothing holding him back. He can get in and out of bed, play with toys, go in and out of the bathroom without any difficulty. He has an incredibly gentle temperament. Masu.”

Nikki’s native blind cat, Stella, frequently visits the foster room. Davey watches in awe as Stella deftly catches the moving toy with perfect precision. “Stella is helping supervise Davey’s late night outings.”
Davie has a voracious appetite and begs for more food even though it’s been less than an hour since he last ate.

“He loves his bottle and it took him a long time to wean him. Now he can eat wet food from a bowl, which means he doesn’t have to bottle feed anymore and it takes him a long time to wean him. I got more sleep.”
“He loves playing with toys. His favorites are toys like little plastic springs and fishing rods.”

Nicky and the medical team agree that surgery is not necessary as Davey is growing well and is not experiencing any discomfort and will only get stronger as he grows.
Davey is honing his climbing skills, especially when Nicky is sitting at the computer trying to work. He climbs up her legs and tries to get her to play, or reaches into her lap to give her a hug. She can’t climb as high as other kittens her age, but she’s determined to give it a try.

Two days ago, Davey was given the freedom of his home. He ran around excitedly and explored every nook and cranny. “He’s a big kid now.”
He is overjoyed to have a loving foster home who caters to his every whim, a blind cat named Stella who entertains him in everything he does, endless food every day, and a cozy bed to curl up in. Masu.

Just a few weeks ago, Davey was in a shelter, but his fate was uncertain. His life changes when he gets foster care, and a bright future awaits him.
