A kind rescuer saves a stray kitten from the street and returns to pick up another cat cut from the same cloth: his sister’s cat.

Late last month, animal rights activist Beth received a call about two kittens, about 3 to 4 months old, living under her balcony. Young and friendly, Beth was determined to give them the good life they deserved.
Upon arrival, they discovered that one of the kittens, Hazel, had an infected eye and needed immediate treatment. She took her home to begin treatment, and the homeowner continued to care for another kitten, Sally.
“We knew that with Hazel’s help, she would be able to return to Sally,” Stephanie Grantham, president of Sparkle Cat Rescue, told Love Meow.

With the support of the community, Beth was able to secure eye surgery for Hazel. “One of her eyes was in very bad condition and after two weeks of medication with no improvement, it was removed.”
After months of surviving outdoors, Hazel seemed relieved and content to be in the comfort of her home. She snuggled into her rescuer’s arms as if she knew she would finally be saved.

Sparkle Cat Rescue volunteers adopted her to help her recover after surgery. She quickly perked up and regained her playful energy. Before long, Hazel was climbing the cat tree and running around, claiming every nook and cranny she touched.
With a newfound confidence, her personality began to shine through. “She slept with her foster parents (caregivers) the first night and loved it.”

When Beth returned to check on Hazel’s sister, Sally, a long-haired, skinny calico cat prowled for attention. She was a cuddle bug and wanted nothing more than to be held and loved.
When Hazel healed well in the foster care facility, Beth asked Stephanie if there was room for another kitten.

“I told you to bring her to me so I could reunite her and Hazel.”
Sally arrived in good spirits, lovingly rubbing her face against everything around her. She purred as she explored her new space and greeted everyone she met. “This girl wants a lot of attention.”

While Stephanie was trying to work on the computer, Sally was eager to jump on the desk and help. She put her paws on her shoulders and rubbed her face against the arm that controlled the mouse.
Needless to say, Stephanie didn’t get much work done that day, but was happy to know that Sally was finally safe.

Now that both kittens were firmly indoors, it was time for a reunion.
One family jumped at the chance to foster and reunite the kittens. It didn’t take long for the two to go head-to-head. “Both girls went to new foster homes this week and are doing well.”

As Hazel lounged on the large bed she claimed, she saw her sister and became intrigued.
Within two days, they were chasing each other around the house and soon curled up in the same bed like two peas in a pod.

“They are both very affectionate and sociable and love playing with toys and cuddling with their humans. Their lives have now changed forever.”
With the help of rescuers and volunteers, the sisters are reunited and starting a new chapter filled with food, love, and each other.
