A kind person gave a rescue cat and three kittens a new start. One of them immediately took charge.

When Heidi Shoemaker, founder of Foster Kitten Mama, learned about a cat family in need of shelter, she jumped at the chance to help.
They arrived at the shelter last Sunday, where Heidi met a sweet and loving mother cat named Misty. Purring up a storm, Misty seemed relieved to find a quiet, comfortable place to stay, rather than the cramped confines of a shelter kennel.
She was taking care of the round, happy kittens (Stormy, Breezy, and Lainey). Of the three munchkins, one immediately stood out.

Laney, a pure gray kitten, immediately attracted attention. Although she was still refining her gait, she waddled around with an air of confidence. “She’s very sociable and playful. She’s one-eyed and lazy, but that doesn’t slow her down,” Heidi told Love Meow.
Unlike her siblings, who enjoyed their naps, Lainey would wiggle around, hit toys, and wrestle with anyone nearby.

This small family fell ill after their stay at the shelter and ended up needing more help than expected. Thanks to proper care, a comfortable bed, and plenty of TLC, they were brought back to health.
As Laney grew bigger and stronger, she bounced around in a ball of energy. Her mischievous nature and googly eyes added extra charm.

Laney often dragged her siblings into wrestling matches while cuddling with mom Misty. She dominated every play session, trying out new toys first and jumping up and down to catch them.
But the moment Heidi scooped her up, she started making “biscuits” by kneading them in the air.

Her eyes seemed to have a mind of their own, never missing a target during play and always locking on with precision. As the kittens entered their teenage years, they became bolder and more curious, climbing into playpens and jumping on cat posts twice their height.
Misty’s little mini-me, Laney, is the bravest and most adventurous.

She plans her daily antics and keeps her mother on guard by constantly being the center of attention. “The rain is a bit of a whirlwind.”
While her little brother Snowy spends most of his time dozing off in dreamland, Rainie runs around jumping and chasing toys. She jumps energetically onto the tallest cat post and looks around with wide, googly eyes.

Heidi knew how much Misty loved the trio and wanted to adopt her along with at least one kitten. Kittens quickly find homes, but the mother cat is often overlooked.
Over the weekend, Heidi received great news for Misty. A wonderful family was born head over heels for her and her son Stormy.

Once the kittens are old enough, the family will officially welcome the mother and cubs into their home. Meanwhile, Laney and her beloved sister Breezy continue their foster care journey, hoping that they can live happily ever after.

After living in a shelter, Laney and her siblings are thriving in a foster home with their doting mother watching over them every step of the way.
