A pair of ‘naughty dogs’ who fell into the ice are rescued

Two mischievous dogs who fell through the ice at Utah Park in Aurora, Colorado were lucky to be alive after being rescued by Aurora Fire Rescue.

KDVR According to reports, the incident happened on Wednesday, Dec. 11, when a witness called 911 to report two small dogs that had fallen through the ice.

KDVR also revealed that the ice the dogs fell on was about 10 to 15 feet from shore.

“There are several bodies of water in the city of Aurora.” Aurora Fire Rescue said in a release. “These waters can present a safety hazard in cold weather when people and animals play in or around the ice.”

Additionally, Aurora Fire Rescue urged everyone to be careful when near water or ice. they wrote, “As temperatures begin to drop and winter approaches, today’s events serve as a reminder to be careful when near ice and bodies of water this time of year.”

Along with this reminder were helpful ice safety tips shared by the fire department.

One ice safety tip for pets reads: “Never let your pet run out onto the ice or walk your pet near a frozen lake or pond without a leash. If your dog falls into the ice, do not attempt to rescue him. Please call for help.”
