A dog was left in the Arizona Humane Society parking lot with the most heartbreaking note left by its previous owner.
The Arizona Humane Society (AHS) identified the dog, named Armando, and the notes he took with him on the trip. facebook page.
The memo said:We are extremely saddened by this outcome, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we were forced to take action. This is Armando (Mando). She is a 4 year old husky Labrador mix. He has been vaccinated and may need it soon. Very friendly to both dogs and people. He is prone to ear infections. We hope he finds a good home. God bless you.“
fox 10 phoenix Armando reports that he was found by one of the staff members being detained in the parking lot of the shelter’s Sunnyslope campus.
Armando’s heartbreaking story highlights how Maricopa County’s animal welfare crisis is at an all-time high, AHS has revealed.
The animal shelter explains: “AHS cared for more than 22,000 sick, injured, and abused pets in 2024, the most in a decade. Due to a lack of pet care, more pet owners in our community are facing the often heart-wrenching decision to rehome their pets.”
“Pet abandonment is on the rise as shelters are full and healthy pets who need to be rehomed due to a change of residence or job loss have nowhere to go.” AHS said.
As claimed by his previous owner, Armando is healthy, has passed all health checks, and was recently treated for an ear infection.
Armando was soon put up for adoption. And, as of this writing, Armando’s adoption profile is no longer viewable on the AHS website, so Armando will be able to live in time for Christmas, loving and good, just like his previous owner had hoped. Looks like you’ve moved home.
Animal shelters also used this opportunity to encourage potential pet owners to adopt pets from local shelters rather than purchasing them from breeders or pet stores.
“Shelters across the valley are full of dogs and cats waiting for a second chance, including Armando.” AHS wrote.
