A stray cat has come into our home for the first time, and its journey has taken a beautiful turn with one of its kittens.

Bailey, a light-colored calico cat, spent almost a year outdoors, fending for himself in a rough neighborhood. Elusive and timid, Bailey was always trying to hide from people, until he met a kind person with a caring heart.

One day, a resident noticed Bailey and began feeding her in an attempt to gain her trust. When the resident realized she was pregnant, she reached out for help and asked rescue groups if they could take in stray cats.

Rescue group founder Heidi Shoemaker welcomed Bailey into her home and saw a kind soul behind his wary eyes.

Terrified after spending time on the streets, she curled up in her litter box for a while, but when she came into contact with a soft blanket she began to rub herself for comfort. “It was wonderful to see her experiencing something so soft and soothing,” Heidi said.

“Thankfully, I was able to get her to a shelter and she gave birth to her baby shortly thereafter.”

Bailey gave birth to four kittens in the comfort of a loving home. The kittens had voracious appetites, gained weight quickly and roamed the nest with renewed energy.

The change of environment and the all-you-can-eat buffet helped Bailey slowly adjust to life inside, and although she was very protective of her kittens, she seemed to have relaxed a lot and even tried to play.

“When the babies were about three weeks old, we added some more toys and my heart melted when I saw Bailey playing with the ball spinner. She wasn’t even a year old yet and it was probably her first toy,” Heidi told Love Meow.

She has grown to enjoy being petted and will call out for attention when she sees someone walking by.

Bailey weighed just 5 pounds and was about the size of a 6-month-old kitten. Once she had finished raising the last kitten, she was finally able to go back to being a kitten and play to her heart’s content. “None of them will have more kittens. The cycle ends here.”

The Bailey’s four young children grew by leaps and bounds in foster care: Bradley, the only redhead and only boy, was a ball of energy with no seeming pause button.

His sisters Bridget, Brynn and Brooklyn matched his exuberant energy, racing him to the tops of cat trees and poles, spinning around like little tornadoes before finally falling into a deep sleep.

A lovely couple heard Bailey’s story and were touched by his transformation from wild to friendly. They wanted to give Bailey a permanent home but couldn’t bear the thought of him being all alone.

They contacted a rescue group and asked if they could adopt Bailey and one of her kittens.

“Bailey’s life was really tough as she was born outside to a stray mother, but now her life has changed and she will be loved and cared for forever, which just makes my heart full of happiness.”

The orange Bradley won the hearts of a cat-loving dog-owning family. Bradley’s mother was eager to officially adopt him. “She had recently lost her beloved cat and was waiting for the day to bring a new one home. Her dog was also missing its feline companion.”

Soon after moving in, Bradley made the house his own kingdom, hogging warm laps, “helping” coworkers at the office, and cuddling his beloved dog Buddy all day.

Brooklyn was adopted by another kitten and they quickly became best friends. Bridget joined a family with another kitten who was eagerly awaiting her arrival and the two quickly became best friends.

Bailey and her beloved kitten Brynn have embarked on a new journey with their forever family, and the sweet mother cat has truly blossomed.
