The young cat jumped onto the truck to “save himself”, but it turned out to be the perfect place to do so.

Bright and early this morning last week, a stray orange dog hopped onto a parked truck and decided he wasn’t going anywhere.
The driver was pleasantly surprised when the uninvited feline guest began roaming the car with his tail held high and exploring the interior. The cat quickly became friendly and made himself at home as if he owned the car.
As it turns out, a clever young cat named Carl picked the right place to ask for help.

“This adorable 6-month-old kitten jumped into the truck of one of our long-time transport volunteers and refused to leave,” animal rescue group Little Wanderers NYC told Love Meow.
Carl was one of the many stray cats wandering the streets of New York, surviving by eating whatever he could get his hands on. A sweet and trusting cat, he was unable to fit into the outside world and set out to change it for himself.

“Even though the intake deadline was approaching, we couldn’t say no to him. We didn’t want to send him to an overcrowded shelter.”
Volunteers swarmed the area to give Carl the care he needed and ensure a safe landing. The adorable tabby cat sat contentedly in his carrier, poking his head out for attention. Hungry for affection, Carl purred loudly as he leaned on the transport volunteers.

“He’s the cutest, Carl purrs a lot and is so loving. We took him to the vet straight away and he came back clean.”
When Elizabeth Liu saw the post about Carl looking for a home, she immediately offered to help. After touring his new home and getting his fill, Carl snuggled up to his foster mom, snuggling and purring nonstop as if to show her gratitude for taking him in.

“He was able to eat an entire can of wet food by himself so I knew it was safe,” Elizabeth told Love Meow.
No longer worrying about his safety or where his next meal was coming from, Carl slept soundly that night in his new bed. With a comfortable home and a loving human, Carl’s personality quickly began to shine.

“He follows me around all day, sleeps on the couch next to me after meals, and loves to chase his foster brother around the house. He tried to growl violently at my orange cat, but didn’t last long.”
“He really is like a doll and has a very sweet and playful personality.”

Carl was self-rescued about a week ago and has since grown into a sweet cat with a strong purr.
He loves to “help” his foster mom and gives the best morning greeting to start the day. He has discovered his favorite cat entertainment system – sitting by the window soaking up the sunlight and watching the day go by.

After spending months on the street, Carl is so happy to be home again. He is enjoying every moment as a pampered house cat and can’t wait for the day when he has his own place where he can be king.
With the help of many caring volunteers, Carl’s life has been changed forever.
