Minimo the kitten was found as a tiny newborn kitten, weighing just 55 grams and about half the size of his siblings.
The mother cat left Minimo and his siblings soon after giving birth, never to return, and concerned local residents rushed to rescue them, working to humanely trap the mother.
They quickly realized that Minimo was very small and in urgent need of individual care.

Chatons Orphelins in Montreal decided to take in the kitten while the others were rehomed.
“Minimo weighed 55 grams (about two ounces) and was just skin and bones and his chances of survival were very slim. He didn’t have the strength to drink from a bottle and his mouth was very small,” said Chatons Orphelins of Montreal.

Minimo’s foster parents kept her warm since she couldn’t regulate her own body temperature and carefully fed her every hour around the clock. After several sleepless nights, the kitten began to perk up.
They eventually found the mother cat and took her to safety, but she refused to care for the kittens.

When the rescue group realized that Minimo’s surviving siblings needed extra care and attention, they quickly offered to adopt them and assigned experienced foster volunteers to care for them.
Through it all, this little one was determined to live and continued to fight with every fiber of his being.

Minimo persevered and amazed everyone with his fighting spirit: after two weeks of hard work, he learned to use a bottle, opened his eyes to see, and even tried to walk and explore.
When they first adopted her, her parents weren’t sure if she would survive, but her strong will and the dedication of her foster parents made sure she survived.

Her ears began to open as she adjusted to fit the small bottle, and along with her developing senses, she became curious about her surroundings as her foster mom carried her everywhere and fed her.
Despite his tiny stature, Minimo has the determination and spirit of a leopard: “When he’s hungry, he doesn’t hesitate to ask for food. He now drinks from a bottle and eats very quickly.”

Now fully fed, Minimo proudly displays his little milk moustache as he is cleaned and petted by his foster mom.
She lives in her little “Batmobile” (carrier) with her owner by her side at all times, surrounded by warm blankets and soft stuffed animals so she knows she’s never alone.

At three weeks old, Minimo is more than five times his captive weight, has grown a beautiful “panther” coat and is getting fuller and plumper every day.
“Minimo was very tiny when he was born and didn’t like the bottle, so feeding him was difficult, but now he’s well into the bottle-feeding habit. I weigh him every morning and evening to make sure he’s on the right track.”

Despite all odds, Minimo overcame all obstacles and finally thrived.
She’s started playing with fluffy toys, swinging her legs in the air and displaying a fierce attitude. “She’s very vocal when she’s hungry or when she needs to be cleaned. Her big personality is starting to emerge.”
