The cat would walk up to people for food and then sit in front of their door afterwards, letting everyone know he was ready for a new chapter.

A friendly stray cat has appeared in a neighborhood, wandering from house to house, begging for food and attention. “He approaches people for headbutts and petting, and goes to people’s doors and waits to be let in,” Little Wanderers New York City reported.
A kind-hearted resident noticed the hungry cat and offered him some food, which the cat ate with gusto, then followed the resident to the front door and sat there as if waiting to be let in.
“I gave him some food and he thinks this is his home and he’s sitting in front of my door,” the resident said in the video.

The cat had reportedly been abandoned and had nowhere to go – although he was friendly and trusting, he didn’t belong outside and was not physically able to withstand the elements and harsh realities of life on the street.
Unable to bear the thought of leaving the cat alone, the resident contacted local animal rescue group, Little Wanderers New York, in hopes of giving the cat a new start with a loving family.

Rescue volunteers sprung into action after the plea and committed to rescuing the cat that very same day. “They rushed together to help ensure the cat’s safe passage to his next life, a life beyond his dreams.”
What they found was an extremely affectionate cat, rolling around on the floor, greeting them by shaking its belly and purring gently.

His rescuers affectionately named him “Toasted Marshmallows” because of his beautiful golden brown and white fur, which reminded people of marshmallows. “He is the sweetest, most friendly cat I’ve ever met,” one of his rescuers shared on Instagram.
“He never learned what it takes to survive on the streets as a stray cat – he would wait at people’s doorsteps crying to be let in. And just as his name suggests, he’s a sweet, gentle cat.”

Upon arriving, Marshmallow gobbled down a bowl of food, as if trying to make up for what he’d missed. He was pleased with his preparations and began to realize that the food was well-distributed.
The cat quickly settled back into its natural environment and was ready to follow its owner and keep an eye on him around the house.

After wandering the city hoping that someone would open their house, Marshmallow’s wish finally came true.
He’s found his owner’s favorite perch, is happy to impart some cat wisdom when the owner is at his desk, and lounges contentedly with his eyes half-open, seemingly well aware that he’s off the streets and living the good life.
