About Penguins
Penguin CBD Penguin takes its name from our favorite flightless bird that “remains cool under pressure,” and the company’s mission is to create affordable, high-quality CBD products so that every person and pet can find the same coolness as penguins.
Who makes Penguin CBD and where is it produced?
Penguin sources all of its hemp from Oregon, where it’s non-GMO and grown sustainably without pesticides. Once harvested, the hemp is CO2 extracted in the company’s lab and mixed with other pure ingredients to create a variety of products, from oils to gummies to pet treats.
What types of cats are Penguins best suited for?
CBD is a versatile compound: studies have shown it can help with a variety of issues, from anxiety and depression to cancer, pain and epilepsy.
Cats suffering from these issues may benefit from Penguin cat products – the company’s treats are particularly good as they can be quickly and easily administered when needed, while the oils are great for daily maintenance and can be added to their diet.
Both of these products contain broad spectrum hemp extracts that are THC-free, making them extremely safe for almost all cats over the age of six months.
Major features
Here’s a quick overview of Penguin’s CBD cat products, including ingredients, CBD content, how to administer them, and what effects you can expect.
material
Both Penguin CBD products for cats are made from broad-spectrum hemp extract. The oil is carefully extracted from the above-ground parts of the plant using CO2 extraction methods, preserving the natural terpenes, cannabidiol, and flavonoids. All of these additional compounds help the CBD work more effectively once it’s in your body.
Salmon CBD Oil also contains hemp oil, MCT oil, natural flavors, and added terpenes. This treat contains many natural ingredients, including chicken powder, flax oil, and brewer’s yeast. Valerian root is also added to further relax your cat.
CBD content
Most veterinarians recommend giving your cat 1-5 mg of CBD per 10 pounds of body weight, and Penguin undoubtedly had this dosage recommendation in mind when they developed these two products.
This oil contains 5mg of CBD per 1ml (one dropper), and since the average cat weighs around 10lbs, it’s pretty easy to find the right dosage for your cat.
One dropper is just about perfect for those who need the right amount to treat pain, extreme anxiety, or chronic issues, and for those who just need a small amount of CBD to promote calmness or for general maintenance, four drops of oil will give you 1mg of CBD.
These treats contain 3.3mg of CBD per soft chew treat, which for most cats will be enough to help them cope with stressful situations like a trip to the vet.
Method of administration
Penguin CBD Cat Treats are packed with chicken and salmon flavour, have a great texture and are easy to feed – most cats will happily eat them as is.
If you choose to use the oil, the simplest way is to add a small amount to your cat’s food once or twice a day. The added salmon flavour makes it very palatable and most cats will not mind it.
Alternatively, you can administer the oil directly into your cat’s mouth, but be careful not to let your cat chew on the glass pipette.
What to expect
CBD is usually fast-acting in cats: you should notice changes in your cat’s behavior within about 30-45 minutes of administration.
But the real magic of CBD comes with consistent use: the compound naturally works with your cat’s endocannabinoid system to balance and rejuvenate the body, but it takes time for the compound to build up enough to have lasting effects.
In certain stressful situations, as-needed dosing can be effective, but for chronic or severe issues, giving your cat CBD daily will produce the best results. Typically, you can expect to see noticeable results after about three weeks of daily use.
Aside from obviously calming your cat, CBD doesn’t usually have any side effects.
Penguin CBD Cat Product Review
1. Salmon CBD Oil
Looking for a daily CBD supplement for your cat? Penguin Salmon CBD Oil is a great option. With broad spectrum THC-free hemp oil and 5mg of CBD per ml, this oil is made for your cat’s sensitive system.
Each bottle contains 150mg of CBD, as well as healthy MCT oil, natural flavors, and added terpenes. Contrary to the name, this tincture does not contain salmon oil; rather, it is an MCT carrier oil with added natural flavors to make it more appealing to cats.
Broad spectrum oils are refined to ensure there are no impurities or other potentially harmful compounds present. This refinement results in a fairly clear product with fewer flavonoids and terpenes than the raw oil. To compensate for this without compromising the purity that makes it a great choice for cats, Penguin adds pure terpenes back into the final product.
This oil is great for older cats who suffer from pain, sleep disorders, or chronic anxiety, and it may also be beneficial for epilepsy and certain types of cancer.
The recommended dosage is one drop per day, but adjust according to your cat’s needs.
Strong Points
- 5mg CBD per ml
- Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract

2. CBD Cat Treats
If your cat just needs some extra help relaxing every now and then, Penguin CBD Cat Treats A great choice!
These treats have a chewy texture and salmon-chicken flavor that most cats love, making them easy to feed during stressful situations.
Unlike most CBD cat treats on the market, these treats have a fairly high concentration of CBD per treat, meaning fewer treats are needed to achieve the desired results. Each soft chew, roughly the size of a typical cat treat, contains 3.3 mg of CBD, which equates to a moderate amount for a 10-pound cat.
If your cat needs less, it’s very easy to split it in half.
Another great thing about these treats is that they contain no artificial or questionable ingredients: the flavors used are all natural and the ingredients are all recognizable. Some of the ingredients, like flaxseed oil and brewer’s yeast, even have health benefits.
In addition to CBD, these treats also contain valerian root, a natural herb that stimulates the production of GABA in the brain, which has a calming effect on the nervous system.
Strong Points
- 3mg CBD per serving
- Soft and chewy
- Attractive taste
- Contains natural ingredients
- Added calming ingredients
Cons
- It takes a while to take effect
Penguin CBD Experience
Luckily, my cat doesn’t have a lot of anxiety, he’s young, has no chronic issues and is in pretty good health – except for a lot of energy.
This is a daily (and nightly) problem, but I was worried it would be especially bad during the weeklong 4th of July lockdown. I can’t imagine a crazy Makoa going crazy locked up in a cage for 7 days.
To remedy this, I purchased two of Penguin’s CBD cat products, hoping to use the oil daily leading up to our stay at the kennel to help calm my cat overall, and to have some treats to bring along if needed for when he gets stressed out being caged.
I started adding the oil to Makoa’s breakfast about two weeks before his stay, and he swallowed it along with his other foods without a problem, and he hasn’t had any indigestion or other side effects since starting the oil.
After about a week, I noticed he was sleeping better at night (and most of the afternoon) and was generally more affectionate. Other than that, he seemed just as happy as ever.
I also tried out treats before the overnight stay by giving him one treat each night before bed. After the first night, he came running every time I grabbed his bottle, happily eating his treat and begging for more. Giving him treats before bed seemed to help him stay calm through the night (meaning he didn’t wake me up that night).
But the real test came when I dropped him off (and of course I packed both CBD products with him). His cage was big enough, but it was just that, a cage, and Makoa is a cat who spends his days roaming the yard and running up and down the stairs.
So I was shocked when the boarding technician described him as “affectionate” and “very sweet” when I first checked him out. This trend continued throughout his time in boarding, and when I picked him up, the staff only had kind words to say about him.
Since getting him back from the kennel, I’ve continued to use the oil in the mornings and give him one CBD treat before bed, and this combination seems to really help him relax in between bouts of energy.
Personally, I like that these two products are easy to administer and can be safely used daily thanks to their high-quality ingredients and cat-specific formulas.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for safe and effective CBD products for cats, be sure to check out these two. Penguin Products.
