My Veterinary Checkup – Summer Wonderful Cat Life

By SecretWuff 3 Min Read

When Summer is having trouble emptying the toilet, the humans take her to the veterinary clinic for tests.

Human didn’t like what he saw when I was using the bathroom in the morning, so he dug up a sample and took me to the vet a few hours later. She told me that I had “loose stools” and that instead of getting better, it was getting worse for several days. To be honest, I didn’t feel any discomfort at all until the day of the veterinarian’s appointment.

I know most kittens hate vets, but I don’t really care. The lobby area was quiet so we were able to keep him on a leash. And when I got to the exam room, I sat next to the human and instead of hiding in the carrier, he purred and rubbed himself against the carrier.

When the vet showed up, she tested the samples my human had and gave me a full exam. In addition to any sensations such as swelling or congestion, she also quickly examined my eyes for freckles. She wanted to make sure nothing had changed, but nothing had. She also looked at my teeth and said they were clean. That’s because my human brushes his teeth regularly.

There was nothing obviously wrong with her, so she ordered a test. My human didn’t care about this because it didn’t do anything on my last visit. While we were waiting for the technician, my human found a container of Actinidia. Unfortunately, the nip was a little outdated and I didn’t have much interest in it.

Because the human and I are a therapy pet team and I trust her so much, the human ended up staying in the exam room while blood and urine samples were taken. This rarely happens in the clinic as the human patients are usually emotional and cause drama and additional stress for the pet and the technician. My human just sat there, checked his phone, and chatted with the tech a few times. This part of the visit was not fun for me, but it was probably less of a struggle since she was there. And while they were busy, they gave me some snacks. That was also very helpful!

And after it was over, there was another surprise. They had a small gift bag with cat treats and toys for the kitten patient. It was so great.

My human also got probiotics for me, so I’ll get the test results within a day. I hope the test results are good, but this is just a minor digestive issue. They happen to everyone!
