The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) has formed a coalition of animal adoption groups across the state for a series of free dog adoption events to be held across the state from July 15th to July 21st.
According to MSPCA-Angell, the coalition is made up of animal protection groups including Boston Animal Control, Berkshire Humane Society, Dakin Humane Society, Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center and Worcester Animal Rescue League.
The adoption event, called “Mass Saves,” will begin on Monday, July 15th and run through Sunday, July 21st.
This week, the coalition is waiving adoption fees for dogs over the age of one at a total of 10 shelters, including Southeastern Massachusetts Animal Shelter, Lowell Humane Society, and all of MSCPA’s adoption centers in Boston, Methuen, Cape Cod and Northeast Animal Shelters.
At this adoption event, Best Friends Animal Societyworks to combat overcrowding in animal shelters and make it easier for homeless dogs to find long-term homes.
“Our adoption centres are at 90 per cent capacity but we are determined to do all we can to continue to provide a safe place for local animals to come ashore and to support our relocation partner shelters.” MSPCA-Angel I have written.
Mike Cary, MSPCA-Angell Vice President of Animal Protection, added: WWLP They hold the keys to successfully finding dogs their forever homes.
Kaylee explains. “Creating space in all of our coalition shelters is crucial so we can collectively help more local stray and rehomed pets. Plus, we know the way to help the dogs most in need right now is through a combination of increased behavioral support and reduced stays in shelters.”
“We held special adoption events when our cages were full which were incredibly successful and we are confident that by working together we can expand to the whole coalition.” adds Cary.
