Well, even if the victim went with you voluntarily, does it still count as theft?
Owners may be confused when they discover that their 7-year-old neighbor has “stole” their husky and replaced it with a stuffed dog.
Amanda Sullivan of Gloucester, Massachusetts, filmed her neighbor Olivia Myers stealing her dog and shared the video on TikTok, where it’s now gone viral.
In the video, Olivia is seen approaching Sullivan’s 11-year-old husky, Gunner, who was distracted by her own actions.
The girl changes Gunner’s collar — from a “Mama’s boy” collar to an “Olivia’s boy” collar — and places a stuffed husky next to Gunner and asks the dog to come with her.
“Gunnar was really struggling with whether he should really go with her or wait for me to go outside like he usually does.” Sullivan wrote in the caption.
After some hesitation and barking, Gunnar relented and went with Olivia.
Sullivan then “confronted” the girl playing with Gunner, who asked Olivia, “Who’s that?” “Did you steal my dog? Did you change his collar?” The girl gave me a mischievous look.
She explains: “When the backyard camera alerted me and I realized what she was doing, I was going to leave it be. I was laughing in the house and I think Gunner heard it too. That’s why he was so hesitant to go in with her.”
“You can’t call it ‘stealing’ when he did it of his own accord.” Sullivan laughs.
In fact, these two were best friends! Sullivan New York Post Gunnar and Olivia have been best friends ever since they met two years ago.
She even says there is an ongoing “feud” between neighbours over whose child Gunnar is.
but, today Describing Gunnar and Olivia as “identical twins,” Sullivan seems to acknowledge there is a special, undeniable bond between the pair.
“At this point, I have accepted that we have joint custody of Gunner.” Sullivan says.
