A “forgotten” young cat has undergone the biggest transformation of her life – and now she’s giving back in abundance.

Earlier this year, Nikki and the team at Best Friends Felines took in three young cats who were in desperate need of help.

The kittens were weak, sick with colds, covered in fleas, shed, and looked around with wide, alert eyes. “Some days in rescue are harder than others,” Nikki said.

Volunteers sprung into action immediately, making sure the trio had a safe place to stay, good food to fill their stomachs, and all the love they needed to recover and trust.

Among them was the smallest cat, Eden, who was scared of humans and huddled behind his siblings for comfort. “On the day Eden was rescued he weighed just 550g – the weight of a five-week-old kitten, but Eden was only about six months old.”

After a week in foster care, the two kitty siblings have thrived, improved their appetites and started to grow fur.

While Eden’s siblings, Rezia and Rain, got used to their owners, Eden watched the interaction from the sidelines.

“You can tell she has quite a sassy personality inside and she will take longer than the others to warm up to humans, but her owners are confident that with time and patience she will blossom into the most beautiful little soul.”

Eden mustered up the courage to join his owner for cuddle time with his siblings, whose colds had gone, their eyes were bright, and their bodies were finally plumper.

“Their enthusiasm for food means they climb on each other. They’re growing by leaps and bounds, their own little personalities starting to shine through and finding their own feet and voices.”

They have discovered the joys of cat toys and have become good friends with other feline friends in the home.

“Eden seems to enjoy being alone in a quiet space. She’s steadily gained weight and has grown into a sweet little girl. She squeals in greeting whenever her caregivers enter the room. She loves to bop her head and has discovered that she enjoys being given treats.”

“Even when she’s up and walking she moves her paws to make little biscuits and makes little purring noises all the time to show her happiness.”

Eden remains the smallest of the three, and with her newfound energy she enjoys exploring, playing with the other cats, and getting into all sorts of pranks.

She and her siblings tripled their weight in less than two months and their strength and general “kittenness” returned to normal.

“Eden has always had a princess inside her. She has an air of royalty and is always perfectly put together and adorable, right down to her little toes,” Eden’s foster parents said.

“At night, she loves to sleep on our chests, curled up in our arms or snuggled up against our necks. She’s so light that sometimes we forget she’s there, but it’s her way of feeling safe and loved.”

Rain (Tabby) has been growing in confidence along with her sister, Rezia.

Despite a tough start in life, Eden exudes joy when her owner is around: “She’ll give it back tenfold with her utterly ridiculous, shrill, scream-inducing Puss in Boots cuteness.”
