Some of the ideas below are perfect for fall; others can be used in winter — some require snow or mild weather — but you’ll find plenty of ideas for enjoying pet-friendly adventures with your furry best friend.
Pet-Friendly Adventures for Fall and Winter
Go glamping
If it’s too cold for a tent, a heated glamping hut can help you extend your camping season. Enjoying fresh hikes and autumn leaves during the day, and cozying up around a campfire on chilly nights will be fun for both you and your pet.
Visit orchards, farms and vineyards
Fall is harvest season and many orchards, farms and vineyards welcome you to take your pet for a walk on a leash. Go apple picking and pick up some delicious apples and cider. You can also visit a local pumpkin patch and take some photos of your cute pet and carve a pumpkin.
Another option is to see new vineyards and find a new favorite wine. One of our favorite activities in the cooler months is visiting a corn maze. If you’re a dog lover, you can take some great photos of your pet and it’s also fun to see if your pet can find the exit without your guidance. Watch a hockey game

Visit an indoor dog park

Take a walking tour

Go on a scenic drive
A scenic drive is a fun adventure you can enjoy with your pet. Enjoy the fall foliage and fall activities from the comfort of your vehicle, or take the opportunity to explore wildlife refuges and parks where dogs aren’t allowed.
Visit the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge in Maryland’s Chesapeake Region, where you can enjoy miles of drives where you can view foxes, birds and other wildlife, or explore the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia, the Pacific Coast Highway in California and the Beartooth Highway in Montana and Wyoming.
Dining out
Some restaurants are installing heaters on their patios to extend the outdoor dining season, and with most patios now less crowded, now is the perfect time to practice dining outside with your dog.
Bring mats and blankets for the floor to keep your pup warm, and they’ll be happy to clean up any food they drop.
Visit a pet-friendly brewery

Look up breweries in your area, see their facilities, and see if they’ll let you bring your dog inside. (Of course, it’s wise to call and check their policies before you go; pet policies can change quickly due to adjustments to hygiene rules or a bad experience at a store.)
Take your dog swimming
Sure, water-loving dogs will happily splash around in the coldest weather, but indoor pools offer some great pet adventures.
If you’re in the Midwest, consider Doggy Paddle Aquatic Center in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood as one option, or try Ramey’s Beach Club in Spring, Texas, which has both outdoor and indoor facilities.

Some streets and entire towns create spectacular holiday displays.
