When my human votes, she usually drops off her ballot directly at the polling place. She does this so she can have me as the poll worker’s unofficial therapy cat. And she thought it was especially important to do it this year.
There are many voting centers nearby, but my personal preference is to use the voting centers located on college campuses in our area. This is because the former president attended for a short time.
I’m so glad I went! When my human came in, she told the poll worker about my therapy work. The next thing I knew, I was surrounded by a crowd of poll workers patting me and taking pictures. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon so they were able to spend some time with me. It was great.
There is also a short video below.
My human wanted to add a few words about the importance of voting this year, so I told her:
I almost always take Summer to the polling place. But I specifically wanted to go this November because I knew poll workers would be a stress reliever. They are also very social as they work as part of a therapy cat team during the summer. We’re not a swing state, so it’s not that bad, but let’s be honest, this is not a normal election year.
Yes, this is a cute cat video about voting, but that doesn’t mean I don’t understand that this is probably the most important election of our lifetimes. This is not an exaggeration. I’ve been voting for decades, pre-2000, so there have been some significant votes in the past. But this issue will really determine the direction America will take, not just for the next four years, but for years to come.
Please vote with all your heart and with deep introspection. And don’t forget to vote no on your ballot. Local government officials, more than people in Washington, determine your daily life in your city or state. The same goes for their suggestions and countermeasures. Vote for a world where your children and future children can have the life they deserve. And encourage those close to you to do the same.
